Varanasi is the constituency of India’s current prime minister Sh. Narender Modi since 2014 till present. So development in state is catching up fast and specially in Varanasi and its surrounding. The Ghat of Holy River Ganges makes Varanasi world famous and it is also the lifeline of farmers.

IGME 2020 (India Grain Mech Expo 2020) would be the first Grain Milling Exhibition in Uttar Pradesh.

As the Varanasi/Banaras is the central destination for states like Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Madhye Pradesh and is the big Roller Flour Milling, Dall Milling and Rice Milling trade centre too. Uttar Pradesh is the largest Wheat and Paddy production state in India with 357.19 lakh tonnes wheat and 220 lakh tonnes of paddy production and it has more than 4500 roller flour mills, flour mills, dall mills and rice mills. According to data, last year state Uttar Pradesh produced

highest foodgrains as compare to previous years.

IGME in Varanasi will explore the complete grain milling industry of North Indian, Centre India and North East Indian states and will provide the biggest platform to all machinery manufacturers from India and overseas to its allied industry. It will be a rare opportunity to explore this regional market. Demand for the advances technology machinery in these states is catching up fast. The states governments have been aggressively promoting the modernization for the grain industry. India’s food grain production during the crop year that ended in June is expected to be a record 284.83 million tonnes (MT), almost 2 per cent more than the last estimate (in June) and 9.72 MT more than 2016‐17, fuelling hope that overall farm growth in 2017‐18 could be higher than the current estimates of 3.4 per cent.

The rise, however, hasn’t been beneficial for growers because the price of several commodities particularly pulses, slumped due to the bumper harvest.

“In hindsight, the price fall in pulses and other crops was justified because of the bumper harvest,” said Agriculture Secretary S K Pattanayak.

The previous record grain output was 275.11 MT in the 2016‐17 crop year. The food grain basket comprises rice, wheat, coarse cereals and pulses. Wheat output has been pegged at a record 99.7 MT, rice at 112.91 MT, and pulses at 25.23 MT for the 2017‐18 crop year.

India Grain Mech Expo (IGME) is going to be held first time in Varanasi, Uttar Pardesh.
