SADC – CDE provides capacity building programmes for effec ve and efficient management of ODL ins tu ons within the SADC countries and acts as a repository for ins tu ons’ informa on, materials and exper se. This is achieved through;

Responsive and relevant training, Collec ng and dissemina ng ODL informa on and materials, Facilita on of collabora on amongst ODL ins tu ons, Maintaining up to date database of research and exper se informa on, and Establishing and maintaining a Web Site.

Excellence in ODL

SADC – CDE was established in June 2005 as an ini a ve of Commonwealth of Learning (COL) and Southern African Development Community (SADC) Ministries of Educa on. It is hosted by Ministry of Educa on and Skills Development, Botswana and housed at Botswana College of Distance and Open Learning (BOCODOL).

To carry out its a vi es, SADC – CDE is supported by Botswana Ministry of Educa on and Skills Development, BOCODOL and COL. The Centre is responsible to a Board comprising: Botswana, Democra c Republic of Congo, Lesotho, Zambia, Swaziland, SADC, COL, Distance Educa on Associa on of Southern Africa (DEASA) and SADC – CDE as the Secretariat.
