1.1 Purpose The purpose of this document is to provide detailed instructions on migrating objects from an Informatica 8.1.x repository to an Informatica target repository. This document is intended to supplement the existing Informatica Standards and Guidelines document as referenced on page 14 of this document. 1.2 Overview In addition to the three migration procedures currently allowed in Informatica; repository migration, folder migration and individual mapping/session migration, a fourth type will be available: Team-based deployment This document provides detailed explanations of: data migration by deployment group from the source repository to the target repository rollback process 1.3 Migrating Data by Deployment Groups to the Target Repository Once a deployment group has been created and ready for the migration in the source repository, you will need to copy the deployment group into the target repository. 1. Within Repository Manger tool, log on to the source repository 2. Select deployment group to be copied 3. Edit > Copy 4. Log on to the target repository 5. Edit > Paste. The Copy Deployment Group dialog box opens. (The Use typical options when possible option button is enabled by default.)

1.1 PurposeThe purpose of this document is to provide detailed instructions on migrating objects from an Informatica 8.1.x repository to an Informatica target repository. This document is intended to supplement the existing Informatica Standards and Guidelines document as referenced on page 14 of this document.

1.2 Overview

In addition to the three migration procedures currently allowed in Informatica; repository migration, folder migration and individual mapping/session migration, a fourth type will be available:

This document provides detailed explanations of: data migration by deployment group from the source repository to the target

repository rollback process

1.3 Migrating Data by Deployment Groups to the Target RepositoryOnce a deployment group has been created and ready for the migration in the source repository, you will need to copy the deployment group into the target repository.

1. Within Repository Manger tool, log on to the source repository2. Select deployment group to be copied3. Edit > Copy4. Log on to the target repository5. Edit > Paste. The Copy Deployment Group dialog box opens. (The Use typical

options when possible option button is enabled by default.)

6. Click Next. The Copy Deployment Group – Select Deployment Folders dialog box opens. This dialog box lists the source folder(s) and the matching target folder(s).

7. Click Next. The Repository Manager dialog box opens if there is outdated copy in one or more of the target folders.

8. Click Yes to continue comparing the source and target folders. The Copy Deployment Group – Select Compare Folders dialog box opens.

9. If there is Outdated Copy, select the checkbox for the target folder so they can be compared to the corresponding source folder.

10. Click Next. The Copy Folder–Compare Folder– Compare Results dialog box opens. The Results list box displays the number of similarities and/or differences in each folder. Any differences will display as highlighted text.Note: This dialog box will open for each folder being compared.

11. Click Next for each folder being compared. Once all folders have been compared, the Copy Deployment – Select Labels dialog box opens.

A label needs to be created to distinguish this deployment from other deployments.

12. From within Selected Label from Source Repository, Browse to the find the appropriate label. The Label Browser dialog box opens.

13. Select the appropriate label and Click OK.14. Repeat steps 11 and 12 to select a label for the Target Repository. 15. Once you have selected a label for both the Source and the Target repositories,

select the Move label checkbox for each label. (This should probably be set as a default).

16. Click Next. The Copy Deployment Group – Clear Source Deployment Group dialog box opens.

17. Leave the Clear the contents of the source deployment group checkbox clear (default).

18. Click Next. The Copy Deployment Group – Sequence Generators and Normalizers dialog box opens.

19. Select the Retain Sequence Generator, Normalizer or XML key current values checkbox, if not selected by default.

20. Click Next. The Copy Deployment Group – Retain Integration Service Assignment dialog box opens.

21. Select the Retain Integration Service assignments for workflows in the target folder checkbox if not already selected by default.

22. Click Next. The Copy Deployment group – Database Connections dialog box opens.

23. Click Next. The Copy Deployment Group- Dependency Information dialog box opens.

24. Select the Copy dependency information checkbox if not already selected by default.

25. Click Next. The Copy Deployment Group – Complete Deployment dialog box opens.

26. From within the Confirm Copy group box, select the Ready to start the deployment checkbox.

27. From within the Save Option group box, select the Save deploy options into the following file checkbox and type the name of the file to be saved

28. Click Finish. When the deployment is complete, you are returned to the Repository Manager window.

1.4 Rollback ProcessIf a rollback is deemed necessary, the process described below should be followed:

Note: If there is a dependency, you will need to rollback in descending order first. (i.e., parent, then child).

1. Open the Repository Manager tool and log on to the repository.2. On the Versioning menu, click Deployment > History.

3. The Deployment Group History Browser dialog box opens and displays a list of deployment groups.

4. Select the appropriate deployment group, click View History. The Deployment Group History dialog box opens.

5. Select appropriate deployment, click Rollback. Once the rollback has completed the Repository Manager confirmation box displays. Click OK.

Status will be changed to Rollback in the Deployment Group History Browser window.
