A CSI Primer for School Year 2020-2021

V I S I ON
Christian School International is a Christ-centered school devoted to the
development of the whole person with a scientific and Christian world
view.
M I SS ION
Christian School International provides:
a. educational opportunities of learning to know, learning to do
learning to live together with others and learning to be the kind
of person God has created—to become fruitful Christians and
productive members of society;
b. opportunities to work with parents in fulfilling the God-given
responsibility of developing the creativity of their children; their
unique talents and their latent responsibilities; and
c. opportunities to learn and develop responsible stewardship of
their God—given potentials and inherent in them: mental, social,
emotional and spiritual.
PHILOSOPHY
“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not
turn from it” Proverbs 22:6

“When passion is present, crisis creates opportunities.”
On March 16, 2020, the Luzon area was put into Enhanced
Community Quarantine due to the threat of the Corona
Virus Disease 2019. The pandemic has brought a significant
change in the way we conduct our usual operations
particularly in the education setting.
Christian School International made its stand to continue
delivering lessons through its Distance Learning Program.
Though admittedly unprepared, CSI opted to devise
meaningful resources and work doubly hard in order to give
our program a success. It was tough at the start to venture
into something new amidst odd times. The fourth quarter of
school year 2019-2020 concluded in an unconventional
way, but it was very much satisfying to note that the school
persisted with its genuine quest for learning.
The school managed to work on the easiest, fastest and
safest way the students and parents could access the
lessons and with the best efforts that the teachers could
Page 5 of 36
exert. The school faithfully adheres to its vision and mission
as it continues to pursue quality education regardless of
what the uncertainties may bring. With full passion and
commitment, CSI exercises flexibility to continuously meet
the needs of the coming generations.
The condition nowadays calls for a learning modality that is
far from the traditional classroom setting. However, nothing
should stop our pursuit for learning. Schools are set to make
adjustments in order to cope with the present situation
without sacrificing the value of education.
As a response, our school has devised an innovative
solution in order to offer you continuous quality education
amidst our unpredictable situation.
This school year 2020-2021, we bring new and enriching
learning experiences as we introduce you to: BAGONG
CSIMULA. This marks the beginning of our transition to the
new normal.
What comprises the Bagong CSImula?
C-urriculum
Christian School International puts the learners’ hearts in
mind as it prepares for the Bagong CSImula venture.
The curriculum was designed in compliance with the
essential learning competencies from the Department of
Education. The school however has integrated its own craft
to accustom to our vision, mission and philosophy. This
school year, CSI employs hybrid learning. In order to keep
everyone safe at home until the government permits the re-
opening of schools for face-to-face classes,
CSI will be implementing the following:
Online classes from Preparatory to Grade 3
Combination of online and face-to-face classes from
Grade 4 to Grade 12
Classes from Monday to Saturday consist of both synchronous and
asynchronous approaches; thrice a week for synchronous or as the
need arises. The subject teacher may schedule a particular time
and day, on top of the regular schedule, depending on the
availability of the majority. Synchronous lessons may also be
recorded to be available anytime for everybody’s access.
In the asynchronous classes, the teacher is still virtually
available for questions and clarifications. It will also be held
thrice a week. In addition to this, printable and printed
materials will be made available to support the learners’
needs for review, practice, and independent activities.

I-nnovations
CSI presents capcsionline.com, its own School
Management System (SMS) especially devised and
customized in collaboration with WSI Technology. This SMS
hosts our official Learning Management System (LMS) which
is the Frontlearners.
Frontlearners is an interactive e-resource material with
lessons, quizzes, and activities, fully aligned with DepEd’s K-
12 curriculum.
Google Meet/Zoom platform will be used for video
synchronous classes.
For preparatory to grade 3, the presence of media mentor
is needed to guide them in the access of the materials and
in attending synchronous classes.
These innovations and initiative of the school are designed
to keep track of the dynamic learning processes that take
place. Systems are specifically customized for CSI learners,
parents, and its stakeholders.

CU RRIC ULUM
Christian School International boasts of its
Whole Child Bible Integrated Hybrid Curriculum
– it is a combination of online and physical approach to
education, with emphasis on values formation and holistic
learning.
Online classes will be implemented through the
CAPCSIOnline school management system. CAPCSIOnline is
a product of careful and intentional development of a
system specifically made for CSI learners, parents, and
stakeholders. CSI, WSITechnology™, and FrontLearners™
work hand-in-hand to ensure that we offer only the best for
our students.
Face-to-face classes will be implemented only when the
government permits the re-opening of regular school
operations. A student will come to school only during his/her
specific schedule, still observing social distancing, and
following the school’s protocols.

Grading Scheme
(Lifted from Dep Ed Order 8, s. 2015)
Classroom Assessment is an integral part of curriculum
implementation. It allows the teachers to track and measure
learners’ progress and to adjust instruction accordingly.
Classroom assessment informs the learners, as well as their
parents and guardians, of their progress.
There are two types of classroom assessment:
Formative assessment may be seen as assessment for learning
and as assessment as learning. Its purpose is for teachers to
gauge the effectiveness of instruction and to make necessary
adjustments. It may be given at any time during the teaching
and learning process.
Summative assessment may be seen as assessment of learning
in order to describe the standard reached by the learner. Its
purpose is to measure whether learners have met the content
and performance standards of a learning area.
Grading Scheme
Summative assessments are classified into three components: Written
Works (WW), Performance Tasks (PT) and Quarterly Exam (QE).
The Written Work component ensures that students are able to express
skills and concepts in written form. The Performance Task component
allows learners to show what they know and are able to do in diverse
ways. The Quarterly Examination measures student learning by the
end of the quarter.

A Final Grade of 75 or higher in all learning areas allows
the student to be promoted to the next grade level. A
learner who gets a final grade below 75 in at most two
learning areas, must take remedial classes. The learner
must pass the remedial classes to be promoted to the
next grade level.

S TUDENT GUIDEL INE S
Students are highly recommended to secure a stable
internet connection during online classes. Those who do
not have access to the internet may opt for physical
make-up classes, upon the approval of the government
to hold such, subject to proper arrangements and prior
approval.
During face-to-face classes, students are required to
wear the prescribed uniform including their official
school ID, as stated in the protocol. Failure to comply
would mean non-admittance to the school grounds.
In addition to the Manual of Student Conduct and
Discipline, students must strictly observe and follow the
guidelines stipulated in the CSIber Rules.
CSIber Rules
The CSI Netiquette Manual
1. Use polite words especially in addressing your teachers.
2. Keep everyone’s personal data private.
3. Access only the materials that are needed in the lesson.
4. Inform your adviser and seek prior approval if you cannot attend your
online class.
5. Communicate with your teachers only through the CAPCSIOnline
messaging system during their official consultation hours.
6. Observe the Anti-Plagiarism Law; cite the references or other
resources you used in accomplishing your tasks.
7. Keep the learning materials for your own use only; these are not to
be shared publicly. CSI reserves the rights to all instructional
materials made available through the learning management
system.
8. For every reported or perceived cyber threat (use of foul words,

PARENT GUIDELINES
Parents, being the school’s partners in honing the
children’s academic development and potentials, are
encouraged to support the school’s programs and its
pursuits to learning. With our present condition, the vital
roles of parents as co-facilitators of learning must be
more evident. Thus, the school presents the following
guidelines.
1. Provide a conducive learning environment for your child
free from distractions.
2. Ensure that your child has the necessary learning materials
and appropriate gadget to be used in classes.
3. Help in monitoring your child’s attendance to classes and
compliance to requirements.
4. Follow-up on your child’s learning needs and coordinate
with your child’s adviser for concerns, questions, and
clarifications.
5. Participate in the programs that the school offers
specifically for parents.
6. Allow your child to handle the school tasks independently.
Avoid accomplishing works that are assigned to them. The
school needs to see if the child learns effectively in this
new platform.
TEACHER GUIDELINES
1. Carefully plan and prepare learning materials.
2. Conduct online classes to discuss lessons
comprehensively.
3. Provide immediate feedback on student progress.
4. Present varied teaching-learning activities
appropriate to different learning styles of students.
5. Respond to inquiries and consultation.
6. Coordinate with the parents as often as needed.

CSI HYMN
Lyrics by Dr. Josue C. Zuniega
(Adapted from Psalm 8 and 9)
Music by Josue Greg M. Zuniega, Josue Sim M. Zuniega
and Leah M. Zuniega
On Mount Makiling’s beautiful slope
Amidst stately palm trees pointing to the sky
CSI stands to teach God’s truth and love
To children of different races, creed and clime.
The heavens declare the glory of God
The sun, moon and stars obey His perfect laws
Our school like a lighthouse stands in obedience
To show God’s mercy to the sinful man.
Chorus:
God bless Christian School International
Make her faithful in leading us to Christ the way
That our feelings thoughts and behaviour
Be pleasing to you each night and day.
Indeed God’s laws are perfect and sweet
For our protection, wisdom, joy and life
Unto this will our school shall firmly stand
Committed in preaching Christ’s salvation to all men
When at the skies we gaze in awe
God’s wisdom and power we cannot fully know
But wisdom comes through the Bible our guide
When in His Word with faith, we shall onward forward go.
(Repeat Chorus)
