What is Yarsagumba ?
Yarsagumba is a type of caterpillar fungus which is one of the most expensive commercial insect-herbs that is used for medical purpose.
Its scientific name is Himalayan Viagra Yarsagumba is a Tibetan word which means summer grass – winter worm.
It is a rare fungus that parasites on the body of a moth caterpillar that grows only at higher altitudes in Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, China and North-East India.

History or Origin
According to legend Yarsagumba was discovered by Tibetan and Nepalese Herders.
It was earlier documented as CATERPILLER FUNGUS by a Tibetan physician and lama who lived from 1439-1475.
It is also known as the Himalayan Viagra or the Himalayan Gold, in Nepali या�र्शा��गु�म्बा�, Yarchagumba, Yatsa gunbu and Yartsa gunba.
Development
Grows only at higher altitudes in Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan, China and North-East India.
when a Caterpiller living under the ground is killed by fungus, a tiny mushroom spouts from head of dead larva and becomes Yarsagumba.
Looks like insect in winter and plant in spring when the snow starts melting.
