The Augsburger Domsingknaben
The Augsburger Domsingknaben are one of the most prestigious Germanboys choirs.
Their core occupation is upholding the Augsburg Cathedral’s tradition ofmusica sacra. Musical director (Domkapellmeister) Reinhard Kammler andhis Augsburger Domsingknaben have also been a very successful part ofthe professional international music business for years, working withworld stars such as Kent Nagano, Jeffrey Tate, Fabio Luisi and Sir ColinDavis.The boy soloists as well as the chamber choir perform at renownedmusic festivals such as the Schwetzinger Festspiele and at distinguishedopera houses like the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich.
Domkapellmeister Reinhard Kammler has reestablished the Choir in 1976,even though its history can be traced back to the 15th century.
The Augsburger Domsingknaben perform all over Germany, in many Euro-pean countries as well as overseas. They performed in the Vatican for thePope on several occasions and give regular guest performances at officialpolitical functions in Berlin, such as this year’s official Christmas concertat Bellevue palace, residence of Federal President Joachim Gauck.
The choir has worked closely with international labels such as HarmoniaMundi and EMI whilst publishing their recordings internationally.
Reinhard Kammler, Domkapellmeister
Reinhard Kammler studied Musik in Munich and founded the AugsburgerDomsingknaben during his studies. After many years as cathedral organist,he was appointed Domkapellmeister of Augsburg. He has been awardedmultiple awards for founding the Choir and for his service to the cultiva-tion of the musica sacra, e.g. the Päpstlicher Silvesterorden and the Bun-desverdienstkreuz.
Reinhard Kammler and the Augsburger Domsingknaben have also beenawarded with the prestigious and internationally recognized „Kulturpreisder Bayerischen Volksstiftung“ to honor their relentless efforts of preser-ving German cultural heritage.
