New Networking Ministry for All Parishioners!
St. Catherine Church established the Parishioners Network Ministry to assist the parish to reach out and communicate to the individual parishioners, make them feel welcomed members of the parish family, promote fellowship; and to encourage parishioners to be active, involved, “living” members of the Body of Christ in St. Catherine Parish. This new ministry will promote ease of communication and interaction within the Parish and among parishioners in a networking environment. All parishioners are invited to participate and get involved in this networking ministry. Contact us at: [email protected]. We welcome the 254 new parishioners who registered and joined our Parish Family from September 2011 – June, 2012!

Welcome to St. Catherine's
Please refrain from bringing
inappropriate items (i.e. chewing gum,
food and drink, cell phones, etc.) into
Liturgy. Thank you for your cooperation.
WELCOME We extend our hands and hearts to you in Christian hospitality, and thank God that you are with us, whether you are long-time, or newly arrived parishioners.
PARISH MEMBERSHIP: Registration and regular use of envelopes are essential to the proper administration of a Parish and are necessary in order to become a properly
identified member of a Parish Family.
New Parishioner Orientation will be on Wednesday July 18th 2012 at 7:00 pm in Front of Social Hall
ANOINTING OF THE SICK If you have a serious illness, are facing hospitalization and/or surgery, you should
arrange to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. You may remember “Last Rites” but the correct name is Anointing of the Sick, which is not limited to the dying and which should be celebrated before the sick person is unconscious, comatose or in the last stages of death. The Anointing is offered each weekday morning upon request, during the
7:25 AM Mass. If you or your family members are unable to attend Mass, Father will come to your home. Arrangements must be made by the prior Monday afternoon to allow
time for proper preparation. Please call the Parish Office: 676-4403
THE SACRAMENT OF PENANCE “The Sacrament of Penance”, is celebrated during our monthly Reconciliation Prayer
Service which is at 7:00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month.
It is imperative to be present for the entire service for the participation in the service is your penance.
The next service will be held at 7:00 pm on the 11th of July
This Sacrament is also offered by appointment. Please contact the Parish Office at 676-4403
SACRIFICIAL GIVING
A normal Sacrificial Giving Program is a 10% contribution to a charitable organization or church. St. Catherine's is asking for 4%.
Or, consider giving, as a minimum each week, your first hour's salary (or wage) in thanksgiving for the opportunities God has given us to work and produce for ourselves, our families and our communities. Another way to respond to God's generosity is to mention St. Catherine's in your will. Please give prayerful thought to supporting St. Catherine's in this way as well.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION PROCESS
Canon Law stipulates that weddings are to take place in the Parish where either the bride, the groom, or their parents reside. In order to begin the Marriage Preparation Process, you must pick up A Guideline and Policy Booklet for Weddings from our Parish Office and read it thoroughly. Please understand that the marriage preparation in the Diocese of San Bernardino takes a minimum of 6 months and that a wedding date may not be set until specified criteria are met.
Today we celebrate the Nativity of St. John the Baptist. Just like John the Baptist each one of us has
been fearfully, wonderfully made by God for a special purpose. Are we each trying every day to live God’s plan for our lives? Find out how you can more fully live God’s plan for your marriage by attending the
next
Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend on July 6-8, 2012.
For more information please contact Sergio+Beth Romero at 951-699-2457
or bromerosayshi@yahoo.
June 13th is the next meeting

Each year in December a collection is taken to assist the retirement of many religious communities in the United States. This includes both men and women religious who have served us in the Church. Over the past 18 years you have been very generous and supportive of this Retirement Collection. At present, there is a special need that we wish to bring to your attention. It is the need of our local diocesan retired priests. The Diocese of San Bernardino has 45 retired priests; 18 of them are over 80 years of age and of these 10 are more than 85. Another 6 will join the ranks of the retired within 3 years. All of these priests have served in our
parishes. Many are known to you and some still help by celebrating mass on the weekends. Unfortunately, Social Security and the monthly pension often do not satisfy fully these priests’ financial needs. These men worked in years of very low salaries and were not able to build up sufficient Social Security and retirement savings for present day needs such as: longevity, ongoing health care, aging needs, housing, and inflationary costs. The growing demands are stretching our resources to the limits. In addition we have been blessed with 14 new priests in the past 3 years. These men will serve for many years in the diocese. We also have some 40 seminarians preparing for the priesthood. To support these men in their lifetime of service, we must plan carefully for their old age. This requires us to continue building our Endowment Fund to assist Diocesan Priests in their long term needs. The purpose of this special collection for Retired Diocesan Priests is two-fold: to directly assist Retired Diocesan Priests in need and to continue building our endowments to provide for future needs of the retired priests. Thank you for your generosity in this important appeal for help.
Please Pray for the ill and hospitalized members of our Parish, their families & caregivers.
“Please remember our Elderly and Homebound as well”

Life and Dignity A new abortion clinic recently opened near Old Town Temecula called Family Planning Associates. Several local churches have chosen a day to organize prayer outside of the clinic and members of our parish have chosen Wednesdays. Our purpose is to let people know how valuable life is and how much they are loved by praying for everybody inside the clinic and showing the love of Christ to all we encounter. If you are interested in signing up for a one hour shift between 8 am and 1pm, please call Lauren at 951-252-3403.
K—5 Faith Formation
We are working on offering a summer time Liturgy for children at the 2 morning masses 10: & 12: Please keep an eye on the Bulletin for more information.
We teach on a weekly basis to your child the importance of worship, giving thanks, and acknowledging that we are not always grateful to God when we should be. Please do not give the example that we “take a Vacation form God” during the summer months. See you At Mass!
We all owe these ordinary people who are doing Extraordinary things A big thank you.

FEAST OF FAITH
TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION
It’s midsummer day! We have the advantage of cele-brating one of the great hidden treasures of our liturgi-cal calendar on a Sunday this year. There are only three “nativity” feasts on our calendar: for the Lord, the Blessed Mother (September 8), and today’s birth of the Baptist. Today’s date is anchored by the Annunciation (March 25), when Mary learns not only of her own child’s advent, but of Elizabeth’s child. We are exactly half a year away from Christmas Eve. There are strong traditions around this feast. Just as the winter solstice provides a rich vocabulary for Christmas, so does the abundance of light at midsummer inform this celebra-tion. Just as at Christmas, a religious festival spills over into culture. As summer light reaches its peak, the sun-drenched zones of northern Europe see people staying up all night, kindling “St. John’s fires” in the long sum-mer twilight. Bonfires seem to be the unifying force in all these celebrations, kindled along the shores of the St. Lawrence in Quebec and Montreal, with harbor illumi-nations in France. You may be most interested in the custom in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Baptist’s own city. People there will leap into the sea between midnight and dawn to honor John. Why not find your way to a pool, a lake, or a sandy beach today and plunge in to recall your baptism? It’s a tradition!
Nativity of Saint John the Baptist June 24, 2012
“Behold, one is coming after me;
I am not worthy to unfasten the sandals of his feet.” — Acts 13:25
