NNTA is campaigning on the girls absenteeism issuein schools due to the natural pain and difficulties ofmenstruation period. It is found that a huge numberof girls leave schools as schools arent prepared tocounsel and support the girls in menstruationperiod. Central womens department has developedmore than a hundred trainers, who conduct theworkshops in the regular gatherings of NNTA. Thetrainers share the skills to their followingcommittees as well as the girl students as unionactivities. It is the skill to prepare reusablecheaper sanitary pads, which are kept in the girlstudents/womens bags. After use, it is washed andreused. The girl students got benefitted by thisteacher union activities.Laxman Sharma, NNTA GS 9/16/201418 19. A case registered in the NTA, central office at February, 2014related to the sexual harassment of a female teacher in a schoolof Dailekh district, Mid Western region of Nepal. Miss MunaThapa, was an unmarried female teacher of science in one of thelower secondary schools there. A married male colleagueharassed her in the workplace. She reported to the local policeauthority. The male was an influential person in the localheadquarter and in the school management commitee (SMC).The female teacher was fired for highlighting the case andcome to NTA to report the case. Then NTA (Women Department) took initiation in the case. TheNTA consulted with the District Education Office (DEO) and theSMC of the school and forced them to judge the female teacher.The initiatives taken re-established the female teacher in theschool and the male teacher had to leave school and legallypunished.
