A BRIEF LOOK AT THE CURRICULUM OF JAMEA AL KAUTHAR

Jamea Al Kauthar is a leading boarding school for Muslim girls dedicated to the cause of providing secular and Islamic education to all. Currently there are almost 400 students studying with Jamea Al Kauthar between the ages of 11 and 23 years. The school is located at the former Royal Albert Hospital building site, which is a historically important location not far from center of Lancaster.

COURSE CURRICULUM AT JAMEA AL KAUTHAR The students at Jamea Al Kauthar have access to the best quality

Islamic and secular education. The student needs to spend 6 years in Madrassa starting from Learner’s year and the ending with the fifth or Bukhari year. The six years spent in Madrassa can be broken down according to the following manner:

Edadiya or Learner’s year First Year Second Year Third Year Fourth Year (Mishkaat) Fifth Year (Bukhari)

Courses on Islamic theology in Jamea Al Kauthar are shrunk into 5 or 6 years in line with the basic Islamic knowledge of the students along with their familiarity with the Urdu language.

Both the Urdu and the Arabic languages are considered essential for the proper growth and understanding of the students.

The studying of Qur’an will be also combined with an introduction to Ahaadith, Arabic grammar, Hadith studies and various other crucial subjects.

As for the under 16s courses, they are divided into three categories which are Key stage 3, the Key stage 4 and the GCSE.

The students are taught a wide range of subjects such as Science, English, History, Mathematics, Food technology, Arabic, Double Awards Science, Textiles, PSHE, Religious Education and General Studies.

Additionally, a 2-year Islamic Studies course called Sanatayn is offered at Jamea Al Kauthar for students who are above the age of 16 years. It is delivered in the English language and can be pursued along with A levels. The various subjects explored in this course are:
