70414 is the last steam engine locomotive in Israel. It was built in England in 1942 and taken out of service in 1958. Its last voyage began in Beer Sheva and ended in Haifa. Fifty - four years after the locomotive disappeared , a worldwide campaign was launched to locate it and bring it back to the station in Beer - Sheva. And it worked.

Almost entirely.The famous locomotive was sold in 1960 and melted. But such model locomotives continued to be used in Turkey up till 30 years ago and after many efforts an original steam locomotive came to Beersheba and stopped at the old

Turkish train station.
