Stem Group A group of pupils in year 6 have been brought together to form our

first STEM club. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering

and Maths. The children will be doing a different inves7ga7on each

week and will share their work in class, in assemblies and on the

Millfields Mag, This week the group worked with a company that

makes computer games. They spent some 7me building their own

games and then advised the programmers on how to make their

games even beFer. Their games are on a website called Wordia:

www.wordia.com which is a free games-based learning plaGorm

with interac7ve video vocabulary. The children made their own ava-

tars and some of them won T shirts with these printed onto them.

Please have a look at the

Wordia website if you have a

moment. There is lots of

praise for our fantas7c

STEM pupils on the blog.

We will be working with

Wordia over the next 2

terms to develop vocabu-

lary based learning.

Music In Assembly Every week, each class from Recep7on to Year 6 has a Cele-

bra7on Assembly when we all congratulate children who

have earned 3 Happy Faces in class , celebrate the teacher's

choice for 'Star of the Week', and celebrate any other suc-

cesses that children have achieved the previous week. This

term, I would like to introduce the idea of children sharing

their musical talent in this assembly. Please talk to your

children and ask if they would be willing to play an instru-

ment at the beginning of one of the Celebra-

7on Assemblies. I hope to have a rota so that everyone has

an opportunity to play. If your child is interested, please ask

them to come and speak to me or write me an email/leFer

to let me know what they would like to play.

Many thanks, Jane

Healthy Packed Lunches

As a Healthy School we do a lot of

work with children to help them to

make healthy choices. Most children do this very well and tell us about their

good habits.

We have no7ced recently that some

packed lunches do not contain a bal-

anced meal for the children.

Please do not send chocolate, sugary

drinks or sweets to school.

Thank you for your support with this.
