TRANSCRIPT
Recently we were talking about the mission statement of 99 for 1 Ministries (“To serve the
under-loved in our city and beyond by showing the love of Christ in practical ways and by
training others to do the same.”) and David Easterbrooks, one of our board members, made the
comment that people know the character of a person or an organization because of the fruit
they produce. He stated: “In essence, you are what you do!”
We couldn’t agree with David’s assessment more! With that in mind this particular newsletter
is dedicated to all the people (prayer warriors, volunteers, donors and sponsors) who have
made 99 for 1 Ministries possible. While it would be a practical impossibility to give a bio of
everyone who has served with us, prayed for us or donated with their time, money or
possessions to others through us, we can acknowledge what they’ve done by presenting a
thumbnail sketch of what they’ve allowed 99 for 1 Ministries to accomplish. With that being
said, below you’ll find a SMALL portion of what we, as a Christ-centered non-profit ministry,
has been able to give to our community — All because of YOU!
In the past 13 months 99 for 1 Ministries has...
• Ministered to Patti (an 83-year old mother whose 50-year old son is a drug
addict) by helping her take back goods her son had stolen from her neighbors
and friends and praying for all of them. Worked to get her son into a local
drug rehab center.
• Debra and Hal T. used their van to take nearly 15 men and women to the
Eastern Shore so they could attend a drug abuse prevention educational
program.
• Helped 6 families with funeral arrangements, utility bills, hospital bills etc.
• Our Social Worker, Carolyn W., worked tirelessly to find out about benefits
for a Korean War Veteran.
• Two out-of-state volunteers began hiring folks from half-way houses to work with them in
their construction companies. Thus far, 2 have been promoted to the position of foreman
and 5 to the position of supervisor.
• Donated 386 pounds of aluminum cans to a stroke victim who collects them to support his
family.
99 for 1 Ministries In Action: You can help us make a difference!
Mission Statement: 99 for 1 exists to serve the under-loved in our city
and beyond by showing the love of Christ in practical ways and by
training others to do the same. We will seek to befriend the sinner and
the saint by sharing with them that which God has provided to us and
through prayer for their afflictions. Above all, we will show those who
see us how true Christians live. Newsletter Edition July 2011 501 (C) 3

one to let new prisoners that they are loved and are important to us and
to God.”
• Donated food, clothes, gifts and counseling to the ladies of the Haven of
Hope.
• Delivered 40 coats, blankets, jackets and quilts to those who are homeless and on the streets

from a trailer park.
• Visited over 28 people in local hospitals.
• Provided gasoline for many people who were in transition from one state to another or who
simply needed fuel to get to work, back home to the store etc.
• Gave away nearly 30 bikes that were donated to our ministry, thanks to
James Buck (a Board Member) Terry D.
• Handed out over 50 coats and blankets in early January to those who
were homeless and on the streets thanks to donations from Ramona and
Doug O.

• Helped several people with hospital and/or prescription
needs.
• Provided a ‘Spa Day’ for the women of the Haven of
Hope as well as hair cuts, styles, and dyes because of
donations by the Remington College of Cosmetology.
Arrangements with Remington College of Cosmetology were made by Carolyn W., a
licensed Social Worker with over 15 years of experience, who works with us.
• Beverly C., a representative with Mary Kay Cosmetics, donated her time to show the
women of the Haven of Hope how to apply make-up and professional photographs have
been taken by both Bill S. and Sam N.

Mission of Hope and Fifteen Place) to assure that people (abused women,
alcoholics, drug-users, etc.) were taken care of.
• Gave a washer and dryer to an elderly man who is disabled.
• Our Board Members and volunteers donated dozens of hours of our time to
work at the Prodisee Pantry (a local food pantry).

Before and After Pictures
These Ladies Lives Were Changed Because of YOU!

• Special ordered a pair of size 15 shoes for a gentleman who had no
income and whose shoes were in major disrepair.
• Provided an ‘ice cream social’ for the women of the Haven of
Hope in which 2 ladies (Sylinda P. and Dawn H.) spoke and
counseled with these women about their addictions.
• Began distributing 150 leather bound, 3-ring binders that were
donated to those who are in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers because
they need to be able to take and keep notes.
• Repaired a van for a man who is paralyzed.
• Ministered to both children and adults by giving them
‘Chemo Hats’ (hats that were hand-knitted by Betty T. of
Spanish Fort), praying for them, playing games and
performing music for them.
• Began a relationship with professional photographer with Webb
Photography to take portraits of some of our clients.
• Paul, one of our volunteers, got a call from a frantic lady at 5:30 AM who
had gotten a card from him a week earlier. She had been taking her son to
the hospital when her car broke down on the side of the road. Paul called a
cab to take the mother and son to the hospital (the boy is fine), found that the car’s
battery was dead, replaced the battery and called a friend to drive the car to the mother.
• We found beds for the children of two families as well as blankets for the entire family and
gave them food to eat. One of the families were displaced because of a storm and another
had lost their jobs.
• Gave toys, a cake, food and clothes to a young widowed father for his son’s first birthday!
• Hannah, a 2-year old a patient at a local hospital, needed something loose that wouldn’t
interfere with IV tubes. She was given a beautiful dress that was perfect for her needs!
• All this has been possible because we’ve worked with members of several different
churches including: Deeper Life Fellowship, Moffett Road Baptist Church, Gospel Way,
New Life Fellowship, Moffett Road Assembly of God, South Coast Church and more!
• The absolute BEST thing we can legitimately BRAG about is the fact that the Holy Spirit
prompted 13 people to make personal, first-time confessions of faith in Jesus Christ
(including Jose, now a former homosexual and Mohammed, a (now) former Muslim) and
used our volunteers in His process!!!
The above is only some of what our volunteers have
done during the past 13 months — much of what we do
can’t be easily put into one or two sentences because, as
with most interactions with people, it’s complicated.
