ALCATEL LUCENT9365 BSR GATEWAYBASED ON ATCA V2RELEASE BCR 3.0

The Alcatel-Lucent 9365 Base Station Router (BSR) Gateway is a key component of theindustry-leading Alcatel-Lucent 9360 Small Cell solution. It controls and manages the small cellaccess points within a W-CDMA network. The 9365 BSR Gateway, based on Advanced TelecomComputing Architecture (ATCA) version 2, the selected technology for Alcatel-Lucent products, provides high capacity and scalability coupled with eld-proven reliability. By supportingAlcatel-Lucent small cells for the home, ofce, and public places, the BSR Gateway enablesquick entry into these market segments, reducing small cells deployment costs and simplifyingnetwork operations.

With 3GPP compliant interfaces, the9365 BSR Gateway easily integrates intoany mobile service providers (MSP) 3Gnetwork and appears as a virtual RadioNetwork Controller (RNC) to the mobileswitching center (MSC) and Serving GPRSSupport Node (SGSN). The BSR Gatewayoffers exible deployment options, and not only integrates the signaling, voice and packet gateways onto a singlehardware platform, but also the AAA/

AAA Proxy capability and optionally theDomain Name System (DNS)/Time of Day(TOD) function. The 9365 BSR Gatewaymay also distribute trafc to a singleMSC and SGSN, MSC and SGSN pools, orto multiple MSCs and SGSNs that are notcongured in pools.

FEATURES High capacity, highly scalable platform,

supporting up to 384,000 small cellaccess points

Fully redundant architecture with nosingle point of failure

    Security hardened platform

3GPP compliant interfaces, including Iuh,for communicating with core networkelements and small cell access points

Flexible Iu Flex interface, supporting both3GPP standard as well as a proprietarymode that does not require the corenetwork nodes (that is, the MSCs andSGSNs) to be congured in pools

Seamless mobility and simultaneousvoice and data service continuity withmacro network

Applications enablement with presenceapplication programming interface (API)and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)interface to presence server

Internet traf c breakout with directtunneling to the Gateway GPRS SupportNode (GGSN)

    BENEFITS Reduces capital expenditure (CAPEX)

    and operating expenditure (OPEX) costs

    Offers carrier-grade availability andreliability

Avoids malicious attacks by ensuring thatonly legitimate users and small cell accesspoints communicate with the 9365 BSRGateway

Easily integrates into any W-CDMA network

    Offers network deployment exibility

    Enhances end-user quality of experience(QoE)

Enables the development of value-added,innovative services based on location, presence, quality of service (QoS), andtrusted security
