ISK Family Concert: Living in Geoje one can sometimes feel that access to top quality music and other art forms is rather limited. However, in the past couple of years the situation here has changed. Due to significant investment, Tongyeong now has a first class concert hall and a programme of top quality international artists visiting to perform there. Each year they are also providing free access to 10,000 local children through specially programmed concerts that the visiting artists are also doing as part of their residence. On Saturday 8th October it is the turn of ISK. The Zurich Chamber Orchestra and soloist Daniel Hope are putting on a special free concert for us in Tongyeong! It will be aimed at young people, engagingly presented and featuring accessible music. (Please see further details and the sign up form below page 4). To go ahead we hope to have at least 50 people come along although 500 would be a better number! I hope you will all support this event and take this wonderful opportunity. Looking forward to seeing you all there!
Mr Myles

VOICES AROUND THE WORLD VIDEO RELEASE Well done ISK! Last year, all students in Y3Y9 at ISK were involved
in the recording of the 'Voices around the world'
project. Voices around the world is a project that
connects students from all over the world through
music. Every year ‘Voices around the world’
launches a song to be learned by students with the
aim to make it into an international song recording.
Last year, students from Y3 Y9 at ISK learned the
song ‘Lighting up the flame’ and Ms Ma and Ms
Betthilde made many recordings which were
submitted in June. The organisation of this project
has collected all recordings and videos and mixed
these into the final version of the song. Recordings
came from all over the world and a trailer of this
video can be watched here. After a small delay, the
full video was released last weekend. ISK is in this
video three times visually and also all
audiorecordings of the ISK voices were used. This
means that you hear ISK voices singing together
with students from all over the world in this video.
A wonderful achievement! It is a great link to our
Community and the World around us and we are
very proud of what the students at ISK and other International schools
have achieved, worldwide.
Here is more information about the project. Nearly 7,000 voices from
young people in 62 different countries have been involved in making this
video/recording. Funds raised by download sales will go to the Njombe
Project in Tanzania to help all the children there, including the many that
have been orphaned by the devastating effects of the HIV virus in this
region, get into school and get a proper education. If you would like to
see the video at home please download the video for a small donation.
It is amazing to understand that young students from countries currently under political pressure collaborate in
this way through music, breaking through boundaries and working together in harmony. Well done ISK!

Professional Development
Planning and Differentiation to support all learners Every week, all teaching staff work together on various types of training to ensure the continued development of
our curriculum. Our focus each week, is in response to the learning needs of our children and can be based on
feedback from the IPC accreditation team, current research, assessment data or teacherstudent dialogue. On
Wednesday, the teachers were involved in PD to support the work we have already done on ‘differentiation’. Put
simply, this is the way in which a teacher anticipates and responds to students' needs, often referred to as ‘rigour’
in the IPC . Looking at a lesson in terms of content (what is being taught), process (how it is taught) and product/
performance (how students demonstrate and assess their learning), teachers can adapt elements of their lessons
to ensure children have access, support and challenge. Here,
you can see our teachers developing strategies on Steps to
Success, Success Criteria, Blooms’ Questioning, Interactive
Software and planning.
