Dear  Bethany  Church  family,                                                  July  2014

Summer  has  finally  arrived!  I  was  beginning  to  think  we  would  never  thaw  out!  I’m  looking  forward  to  the  different  pace  life  takes  during  these  months  -‐  vacations,  family  visits,  BBQ,  beach,  and  planning  for  CHRISTMAS!  Christmas?  That’s  right,  Christmas!

We  believe  God  is  calling  us  to  present  to  the  Seacoast  of  New  Hampshire  a  faith-‐inspiring  experience  like  no  other.  We  are  starting  now  because  what  we  are  planning  is  going  to  take  time  and  resources  to  accomplish.  On  Easter,  we  traveled  away  from  home  and  God  blessed  our  gathering  with  thousands.  This  Christmas  Advent  season,  however,  we  are  inviting  everyone  to  come  home  for  Christmas.

Such  a  bold  endeavor  requires  planning,  hard  work  and  diligence.  Many  things  will  have  to  get  done  if  we  are  to  bring  to  fruition  the  vision  God  has  stirred  in  our  hearts.  We  must  start  now  if  our  house  is  to  be  ready  to  welcome  one  and  all  by  November  2014,  the  start  of  the  Christmas  Advent  season.

We  need  to  raise  $185,000  by  the  middle  of  September.  We  have  already  received  $60,000  toward  that  goal.  Unless  we  have  the  funds  in  hand,  we  will  not  begin  the  work.  So,  time  is  of  the  essence  if  we  are  to  meet  the  projected  schedules  for  these  improvements.  Therefore,  we  are  asking  every  family  to  set  aside  a  Special  Summer  Offering  to  cover  the  costs  for  these  Greenland  capital  improvements:

1. IMPROVE  THE  AUDIO  AND  VIDEO  IN  OUR  SANCTUARY  The  production  costs  associated  with  past  events  (e.g.  A  Night  of  One;  Easter  @  the  Whittemore)  have  proven  to  be  worthwhile  investments.  However,  we  would  like  to  eliminate  these  production  costs  in  the  future  by  enhancing  our  in-‐house  capabilities.  Our  audio  and  video  systems  are  now  nearly  15  years  old.  The  proposed  changes  in  audio  and  video  technology  will  provide  the  tools  to  continue  to  reach  thousands  with  the  message  of  the  Gospel.

These  improvements  will  also  directly  impact  Sunday  mornings  by  improving  the  clarity  of  sound  as  well  as  undergirding  the  message  and  music  with  video.  The  enhancements  will  also  open  a  door  for  Bethany  Church  to  attract  Christian  artists  and  speakers  looking  for  venues  that  meet  their  requirements  for  production.  It  will  also  open  the  door  to  become  a  premier  site  to  host  Christian  films  and  conferences.

2. RENOVATE  THE  ROTUNDA  AND  RESTROOMS  Look  around  and  you  will  see  walls  in  need  of  paint  and  carpet  showing  signs  of  wear.  We  need  to  spruce  up  our  Rotunda  and  restrooms,  especially  if  company  is  coming  over!  The  summer  months  are  the  perfect  time  to  check  off  these  items.  Your  financial  contribution  will  go  a  long  way  in  creating  a  welcoming  environment.

Bethany  Church  continues  to  be  a  gateway  for  Christian  thought  and  worship  throughout  the  Seacoast  and  New  England.  As  God  inspires  our  imaginations,  opens  doors  of  opportunity,  and  provokes  us  toward  generosity,  it  is  our  prayer  that  our  offering  to  God  will  inspire  others  toward  faith  in  the  Lord  Jesus.  He  is  worthy  of  our  best  efforts.

God  is  Good  .  .  .  All  the  time

 Rev.  Dr.  Bruce  Boria

FAMILY MINISTRIESBefore You Divorce Contact: Bill Maloney (603-475-4235) or Pauline Maloney (603-944-7993) Is there a couple you know who is struggling in their marriage and heading for divorce? Is your marriage struggling? Give us a call. We work with one couple at a time, helping them to restore their marriage.

Family Camp’s Wish List Contact: Jan Dietrich- ([email protected])Check out the kids’ tents in the rotunda and kids’ lobby. You can help us make this the most fun Family Camp ever by providing some basic and some fun supplies. Our crafts will reinforce the need to ‘SHINE’ in our world. Bucket drums will be a big part of camp, so if you have connections to some 5 gallon buckets, let us know. We’re also looking for rolls of fun duck tape to decorate them.

The babies need you!Kids’ Ministries is looking for some loving people to serve by caring for the babies at 11:00am. The nursery is seriously understaffed at this hour, and will need to limit how many babies we care for if volunteers do not come forward.

Operation Christmas ChildChristmas? Now? Yes! Now is a great time to put aside a shoebox and start filling it up. Take advantage of summer sales to purchase fun items for kids around the world!

Short Term MissionsContact: Bob Whittet ([email protected]) There are a variety of opportunities available during the course of the year for those interested in participating in a short term missions project. Among the teams that head out during the course of the year, there are opportunities in India, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Uganda. Not ready for international travel? There are also opportunities for those who are interested in serving nearby or domestically, including assisting in relief projects when specific needs come to our attention.
