Oral Medicine for GPs: This course gives dentists the tools to diagnose abnormal and pathological conditions within the mouth. Using clinical pictures and x-ray imaging and by teaching diagnostic process and differential diagnosis (DiffDx), the course addresses systemic health conditions manifesting as oral changes and also possible treatment of oral conditions, including: What a lesion looks like, the general concepts of diagnostics and value of patient histories ♦ Appropriate communication with other doctors ♦ Review common lesions including, candidiasis, frictional hyperkeratosis, lichen planus, auto-immune diseases manifest-ed in the mouth, apthous ulcers, hemangiomas, hematomas and ecchymosis, HSV 1, HPV and other viral lesions, oral cancers and radiographic lesions

The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry is proud to offer to you this comprehensive
parenteral moderate sedation course. The 2017 course expands its curriculum to includenew drug regimens, advances in patient monitoring, and ACLS Certification. This intensivecourse consist of 12 days totalling 96 hours: 8 days of lectures and hands-on workshops,and 4 days of clinical patient interaction. Each clinical Saturday will be followed by 2 hoursof debrief and classroom troubleshooting. The course meets (and exceeds) the educationalrequirements established by the ADA Guidelines and fulfills most state regulations foradministration of IV moderate sedation to dental patients. Each didactic day begins with apre-session knowledge assessment and concludes with a case-based group learning exercise.Participants will perform physical evaluation, take medical histories, outline an anesthetic
plan, initiate and confirm intravenous access, administer and become competent in the titration of sedative medications, and performdental procedures under close supervision of faculty who have had post-graduate training in dental anesthesiology. Dr. Periklis Proussaefs is a prosthodontist. He obtained a certificate in Prosthodontics, a certifi-cate in Implant Dentistry, and a Master’s degree from Loma Linda University (LLU) in year 2000. Dr Prous-saefs has published over 45 peer-reviewed articles in the dental literature, and has been serving as an Editorial Board member for the Journal of Prosthet-ic Dentistry, the Journal of Prosthodontics, and the Journal of Oral Implantology. Among many others, he is the recipient of the prestigious Tylman award by the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the Judson C. Hickey Scientific Writing Award by the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and the Robert James Achievement Award by the Advanced Edu-cation program in Implant Dentistry at LLU. Since year 2000, he has been an Assistant Professor at LLU
where he conducts research and seminars. Dr. Proussaefs has received formal training in all forms of sedation since 1997. Part of his res-idence program at LLU included full time training in general anesthesia. He has been providing den-tal care for patients under I.V. (moderate) sedation or oral (minimal) sedation having completed thou-sands of cases. Having tremendous exposure in se-dating patients over the years, his seminars will be focused on SAFETY, and in particular airway man-agement, patient monitoring, and handling emer-gencies. The course involves lecturing, hands-on practicing on a mannequin, and real patient expe-rience. The discussion with the instructor will focus on sharing the instructor’s 20 years’ experience in sedating dental patients.
