2021 Summer Math Packet for

Entering 8th Grade– Pre Algebra

Please complete this packet and turn it in the first day of school

for a grade. You will have a quiz upon the return to school on

the topics covered in this packet.


Instructions:

1. There are 9 weekly review sections in this packet. Each section focuses on

different topics that you learned in previous grade levels. Your goal is to complete

the weekly section every week.

2. SHOW ALL YOUR WORK! NO WORK = NO CREDIT!

3. What if you don’t understand something?

- Use your resources such as notebooks from previous years, online help such

as Khan Academy or Purple Math.

- Ask for help from a parent or sibling.

- Make a note of which section you had trouble with and upon return to school,

ask your teacher for clarifications.

4. What do I do once I finish?

- Bring your completed packet on the first day of school. Make sure that if you

did your work on a separate sheet of paper, you staple it to the packet so you

receive your packet. Remember, NO WORK = NO CREDIT!

- You will be reviewing this packet your first week of school and it will be for a

grade. You will be quizzed on the packet content the first few weeks of school.

Scale factor is the number used to

multiply the lengths of a figure to

stretch or shrink it to a similar image.

You can solve for a scale factor using

proportions.

A proportion is an equation stating

that two ratios are equal.

To solve a proportions you can:

1. Cross Multiply

2. Divide

Example: 𝑥 =8(5)

16= 2.5
