PRE-INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
Are you ready to install your new equipment? Check these steps beforehand to make sure you are prepared.
Ensure there is space for the equipment by measuring the available area and compare it to the
operating envelope.
Understand the equipment by studying this manual. Take note of the utilities that must be run to the
equipment in order for the equipment to function properly.
Gather all your tools and necessary hardware to complete the installation.
UNLOADING& UNCRATING
Upon receiving your MCWW Equipment, open all boxes and crates; verify that you have all of the required
components and that there is no damage to the equipment. Also, verify that you have all of your installation
materials.
NOTE: Please communicate to your Motor City Wash Works representative for any damage to your equipment.
Remove packaging material covering your equipment and bring into the wash bay where it will be
installed. Verify that the area is sufficiently large enough for the operating envelope.
Be extra cautious not to damage the sign during this step of removing the equipment from the
packaging.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
ERECTION
The arch beam consists of two main parts. Those parts consist of the main head sign assembly (see picture
below) and the arch legs.
Picture #03: Assembling the Arch
Positions one leg assembly, sign face down onto wood boards like shown above. Then position the
main head assembly crossbeam (see picture #3) in line with the leg arch.
Slide the main cross beam mount into the leg arch. With the 3/8-16X1” bolts and 3/8” lock washer
(supplied) tighten the arch legs and the cross beam.
Confirm the two sign faces are edges are meeting perfectly. If not, loosen the fasteners holding the
angle brackets mounted in the back of the leg sign light box and adjust the position of the box to meet
with the head assembly

Repeat with the other leg assembly. When the arch is assembled, raise and position above the
conveyor with the outside edge of the driver side arch leg 45 inches from the inside edge of the
conveyor inside guide rail (see Picture below)
Picture #07: Arch Leg 45” from Inside Guide Rail
LAG & LEVELING
This step requires a hammer drill, 1/2” concrete drill bit, 1/2” lag bolts & a hammer. A leveling tool is
required for squaring the legs to the floor.
Determine the location of the arch assembly. Using the aforementioned distance of 45 inches, place
the arch in reference to the conveyor. Mark the ground where the lag bolts will be hammered in place.
Take note to align the legs on both sides as to place perpendicular or orthogonal to the trench.
Using the pattern of holes in the base plate, drill into the concrete for the lag bolts to be inserted.
Brush away the aggregate dust after the drilling is complete.

Take the 1/2” lag bolts and use a hammer to insert into the ground. Keep the nut on the stud but loose,
to allow leveling.
Four leveling bolts on each leg totaling eight leveling bolts, per arch are included. Use these to correct
an uneven ground. There are four points of contact to allow flexible leveling with any situation.
Review the diagram below for supplemental instructions.

Locate the Wall Washers white mount brackets and secure to the arch like show on picture 10.
Picture #10: Wall Washer Mounts
Secure each water manifolds to the wall washer mounts using the Stauff clamps (see below). Do not
tighten the clamps as you will have to install a manifold feed between the two water manifolds.
Locate the Water Manifold Feed assembly and secure between the two water manifolds. Tighten the
union fittings. Tighten firmly the two Stauff clamps.

WATER SUPPLY INSTALLATION
Depending on the chemical feed delivery system, you will require 3/4” hose for the Dosatron system and 1/2”
polytube (SAM) or 3/4” hose (BAM) when utilizing the AccuShot system.
NOTE: Friction loss is common when dealing with flow (GPM) & pressure (psi) in utility lines. Lengthier runs will experience this more prevalently. The suggested sizes are only a guideline and depending on the situation may require larger diameter polytube or hose.
