Equipment Qualification

ISO 9001:2008

Sustainable quality system in production of equipment - an added layer of protection and 3rd party auditing

UL® 3rd Party Certification

UL examiners regularly inspect equipment during production to verify consistent sustained production as designed and originally tested and listed, driving a safer, more reliable product.

Standard Work Instructions (SWI)

Investment in reliable customer experience regardless of which Spider location provides the equipment - only Spider invests in this

Equipment Sourcing

Multiple locations with a large inventory to rent equipment and the capability to support fleet-owned equipment with local parts and repair services

ISO 9001:2008 audited certification of the manufacturer of the equipment – independent verification of quality

Manufacturer as direct supplier for best responsiveness

Certified trainers, technicians and field labor crews to provide project support ranging from supervision only to turnkey labor

Look for

Page 10: 877-774-3370 Access Equipment Exploring Options For Working Safely

Equipment Sourcing Cont.

Products that are 3rd party inspected, such as by Underwriters Laboratory or CUL for better safety

Rental fleet that is thoroughly serviced following each rental to extensively documented standard work instruction – for best total value

Versatile products that stretch your budget to allow repurposing equipment to other jobs

Reputation – ask about supplier performance, talk to current customers

Longevity – there’s no better credential for the suppliers into a risk-intense environment. Staying power matters

Use Appropriate Safety Systems

Each type of access equipment has unique safety requirements Example: Drum hoist and ST17 Every hoist is required to have both

an Overload and an Overspeed safety system

Brakes must be dual action 1926.451 requirement for brakes to

engage when either an accelerated overspeed or a shock force is applied

Fall Protection is required with man-lifts/boom lifts

Suspended scaffolds must have a PFAS & Independent Lifelines

Quality training

Competent Person Training Need to meet OSHA standards

& provides suspended scaffold operations training on hazard awareness & mitigation, fall protection, & rigging

Industrial courses focus on rigging & hoist operation & use in industrial applications

Accident Prevention Programwith Pre- planning

Worker training Hazard recognition Safe rigging practices Communication Basic self-rescue Understand assisted rescue concept

Mitigate Risk 100% Fall Protection Qualified and Competent Person roles clearly defined and followed Scheduled daily inspections Regular maintenance of all equipment Site-specific rescue plan prior to starting

‘Prompt’ Response is Criticalfor Risk at Heights

What is your current plan? Account for specific job site rules Be proactive - site specific fall protection

plan Plans must be in place before start work Find out if there’s compliance space or

restricted access area Be prepared for remote area that you

can not rely on 911 Typically a quality accident and training

program will include initial training – CPT

Have a formal written safety plan Pre-Task Planning Form (JHA)
