WHERE WE LIVE, SERVE, & WALK TOGETHER IN FAITH.

A Thanksgiving Prayer

"O Heavenly Father: We thank Thee for food and remember the hungry. We thank Thee for health and remember the sick. We thank Thee for friends and remember the friendless. We thank Thee for freedom and remember the enslaved. May these remembrances stir us to service that thy gifts to us may be used for others. Amen.

This week, as we grow closer to the end of the liturgical year, the readings convey a sense of imminent crisis, a realization that life has come to a point of fundamental decision. The gospel acclamation verse states: Be vigilant at all times and pray that you have the strength to stand before the Son of Man.

Am I comfortable with and confident in the life choices I have made? Do I ever think of the time when I will stand before Jesus? How does that thought

make me feel? Do I look to Jesus as Judge and King?

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I am happy to say that I am back after my few weeks away and am happy to be home. My time off was enjoyable, informative and re-laxing. Thank you for your kindnesses since my return. Although I was away, you were on my mind throughout and I remembered your intentions at each mass I offered. I do have a confession to make, though. It was made very clear to me while I was gone. I have a problem…one that I share with a furry blue character you may have seen before. You see, I have to admit that I am a Cookie Monster and that’s not a good thing. So, as we make our way to Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas, I ask your help: “If you see some-thing, say something.” Permission is granted for you to ‘call me out’ and encourage me to make a wiser choice. Thank you for your help!!! ☺ You are all invited to attend our Thanksgiving Mass this Thursday at 9am. I think it is the most appropriate and best way to start this national holiday gathered around the table of the Lord. Over the years I have found that all who attend really “get it” and the celebra-tion is wonderful. I look forward to seeing you there. Last, if you have not yet seen Donovan Catholic’s production of A Christmas Carol there is still the possibility of Saturday night at 7pm and Sunday at 2pm. It is a wonderfully, re-imagined version of the original and is yet another success in the tradition of excellence in our productions! God bless you all. Father Scott

Prayer for Persecuted Christians O God of all the Nations, the One God who is and was and always will be, who in your providence willed that your Church be united to the suffering of your Son, look with mercy on your servants who are persecuted for their faith in you. Grant them perseverance and cour-age to be worthy imitators of Christ. Bring your wisdom upon leaders of nations to work for peace among all peoples. May your Spirit open conversion for those who contradict your will that we live in harmony. Give us the grace to be united in truth and freedom, and to always seek your will in our lives. Through Christ, our Lord. Amen
