Driving CommunityPartnerships - Gojek toSubsidise MedicalTransport for theLow-income

As the Volunteer Centre for Bedok TownFilos has partnered with Gojek SG Carescommunity groups and social serviceagencies to pilot a 5-month MedicalTransport Subsidy Scheme for ourresidents Speaker of Parliament TanChuan-Jin announced the initiative at theKembangan Chai-Chee National Day dinnerevent on 28 July He said the moveaddresses a key problem of mobility-challenged seniors travelling regularly formedical appointments

Gojek Singaporersquos General Manager LienChoong Luen was a grassroots volunteerbefore he was hired by the company Thusfates aligned and the collaboration nowencapsulates the spirit of corporate giving -- communities exploring innovative ways toleverage existing expertise and resourcesto serve the community

SG ldquoCelebrating ourCulture of Carerdquo Finale17 AUGUST mdash In commemoration of ourbicentennial year SG Cares held a series ofroadshows to celebrate Singapores cultureof care featuring the individuals andgroups that contributed to this movementFilos was honoured to set up a booth in theFinale at Our Tampines Hub We sharedour work aiming to spark interests involunteerism Engaging games such as theConversation Starters Game and theChapteh Challenge and old-school snacksdrew much excitement from the public Itwas heart-warming to see people fromyoung to old bonding over these nostalgicgames and snacks

Our Executive Director Dr Foo Fung Fongwas invited on stage alongside MinistersGrace Fu and Desmond Lee Speaker TanChuan-Jin and various community leadersto mark ldquoOne Million Acts of Care inSingaporersquos Bicentennial Yearrdquo Join us atour upcoming outreach events listedbelow

Filos 15th Anniversarycum AGPCs 23rdAnniversary Concert andCarnival 24 AUGUST mdash The Amazing GracePresbyterian Church (AGPC) celebrated its23rd Anniversary along with Filosrsquo 15thAnniversary by hosting a concert and acarnival amidst much fanfare The concertwas titled I Dreamed a Dream and itfeatured a medley of heart-stirringperformances by church members youngand old After the concert the community including126 of our beneciaries bonded over abustling plethora of food and games stallsDelicious home-cooked local delights suchas Mee Siam and red bean soup werelovingly prepared by church membersExhilarating games such as Ring theTarget and Pond Fishing were also a hitwith both the elderly and the young Kudosto AGPC for all the hard work channeledinto organizing this event and graciouslyhosting both us and our beneciaries

and quickly realised it was a stroke Calmlyand determinedly Mdm Zainah movedherself to her room to call the ambulanceand clothe herself This is a reection of thecomposed nature of Mdm Zainah Afterthat Mdm Zainah was determined to getbetter and live life to the fullest
