Our preparation Program is held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 PM. Attendance at Sunday Mass on the day of the Baptism is Mandatory. Please call the Parish office to schedule a baptism.

WEDDINGS All weddings are scheduled by the Pastor of the Parish. Office staff cannot schedule a wedding and a wedding is not consid-ered to be officially scheduled until the couple receives written confirmation from the Pastor of the Parish. Couples desiring to be married need to speak directly with the Pastor BEFORE re-serving a hall. Only the Bride or Groom may request a date for their wedding. Diocesan policy requires that a 6 month (minimum) preparation process be completed prior to the cele-bration of all weddings. Weddings are not scheduled on Sun-days.

Anyone desiring such a visit should call the Parish Office.

From Father John….. I want to update you on where things stand in our search for a new Principal for our parish school, St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School. Our Principal Search Committee began the process of recruiting outstanding candidates for the position of school principal in mid-December. The process has been thorough, vigorous and exhaustive. We have received many applications for the position and a number of them are outstanding candidates. To date, the committee has done the following:

Developed the formal process we would follow in our search.Developed and published a parent, staff and parishioner survey to gather input from our community that we would use in

selecting a new principal.Developed initial criteria, characteristics and attributes to help us define what an outstanding candidate would be.Studied the survey results to understand the community’s input and the specific needs that our school has at this time.Developed Interview Rubric design .Developed Questioning Protocols including questions based on the input from the survey results.Selected those applicants who fit our criteria and rubrics for interviewsBegan the interview process.

Please be aware that our single, greatest priority in this search is what is, overall, best for our school children. I want to thank everyone who responded to our parent, staff and parishioner survey and assure you that I, and the entire search committee, value your input very much. Your response to the survey has been excellent. We had 154 respondents and I think the results are a good representation of the thoughts of the school and parish community. The following are the top seven areas of importance from the survey. These were the areas where more than 50% of the respond-ents thought they were of importance and they are listed in order of importance, highest (79%) to lowest (51%).

Ability to understand children and to communicate with them in a loving and nurturing manner. A commitment to academic excellence that is reflected in a strong academic background and successful experience in curricu-lum development, implementation, and assessment. Ability to form the staff into a cohesive team with clearly recognizable written goals. Openness to differing points of view. Ability to facilitate communication and to develop positive human relationships within the school, the parish, and the commu-nity at large. Ability to provide a school atmosphere that is identifiably Catholic. Recognition of extra-curricular activities (art, music, PE, drama, sports, band, etc.) as important components of the total school program.

The search committee and I agree with this list of priorities for our school but would also expand the list with additional items from the comment sections of the survey. We had two comment areas in the survey and we received a total of 94 responses which is quite good in this type of survey. The search committee and I have studied and analyzed the comments thoroughly in order to un-derstand them completely. We found the comments to be, overall, serious, well thought out and credible. We have used all of the survey input as focal points throughout the search process. Different items on the survey (numbers 3 and 5 above), and many of the comments, point to one thing our school needs going for-ward. Namely, someone who is extremely strong in building relationships, in bringing people together, in building a strong and cohesive team, in building up the community, in bringing the school and the parish communities closer together, in building an environment that says to everyone that we are a family, a community of faith, and that we are in this together. We hope to have a new principal hired in the next few weeks. We will then embark on a process of introducing the new principal to the school and parish community. I want to thank all of you for your prayerful support. I ask that you keep all of us in your prayers as I keep you and your families in my prayers.

St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School News

We have completed Catholic Schools Week with celebrations each day, including a meeting of Faith Families to share the emblems from each of their patron Saints, a prayer/music/dance assembly, our wonderful social studies fair, a pair of very special Masses, and the annual staff vs. Student Council volleyball game, to name a few. It was good to see so many at the Open House last Sunday to kick off the week. If you know of a family that might be interested in Catholic education, en-courage them to call the school for a tour and information about financial aid that can make it possible. This coming week, our 5th and 8th graders will take the annual nation-wide religion exam which we use throughout the Dio-cese to measure growth in both knowledge of the Faith and attitudes that reflect putting the Faith into practice in daily life. These exams provide solid evidence that our graduates are meeting the goal of Catholic education. Our first ever Annual Fund is coming to an end. There is still time to be a part of something big as our many generous do-nors have provided over $26,000 in pledges and over $25,000 in donations to-date. As always, we are grateful for the sup-port of our parishioners.
