Ode to Stick Figures

This is an ode to stick figures. So customizable,Yet so simple, but complicatedDifferent ways to draw themYou could just draw a picture

With clouds, a sun, and colorOr draw comics, black & whiteAction, comedy, innocent or violentDifferent ways of expressingAlways my favorite.

Ode to Baseball

Baseball is a great sport, The fresh cut grass smells amazing,Getting on the field and making a play.

When you play in the scorching sun, youStill gotta be determined to score a run.Win your game, and don’t be cocky.

The big game is always the best, Especially if you’re in extra innings, a Runner on third and the ball game isTied, a base hit to left field, runComing in, and winning once again!

Ode to Life

People say life is unfair.I say who really cares?

Life is what you make of it.It is a precious gift. Don’t waste it.

I hope to be out there one day, Making everything go my way.

Life is brighter than the sun.Life is free. Go, now run.

Life is a stage,But do not be afraid.

Books

Books, what wonderful, happy things!Open with imagination and power! On with the inspiration, on with the hope!Kiss the smooth pages with ink! So open a book and go on an adventure!

By Laurel Bolding

You. All the things you do.

Your smile and your heart. I knew it from the start. That I always wanted it to be us two.

Beautiful and daring. You always have me sharing. Like a star, you shine. Please, always be mine.

You keep my heart beating. Keep the birds tweeting.I’m always here, never fleeting.

You and your sweet smile. Please, stay for a while? Forever in my heart.I knew it from the start. So this is my Ode to You.

Ode to Nature

Nature is a beautiful thingespecially every time it’s Spring.

I love all the colorful flowers,I could sit outside with them for hours.

Listening to the gentle breeze, while sitting under the shade of trees.

Hearing different songs from birds, while listening carefully to the words.

Lying underneath the sun, gives off the feeling of fun.

Nature is a beautiful thing, It helped me write a poem, inspiring.

Ode to Sports

Something I really like is sportslike running around in basketball shorts

or running up the court all dayand scoring on a play

to the other teamwe are big and mean

practice all day on your shotmake sure it goes in, right on the spot

but sitting on the bench isn’t funbecause at the end of the game you think, what could I have done?

Brothers are too hidden at times.Raging about me walking in his roomOpening to no one but his friend and his enemies. The simple things too.Hating being told what to do.Eating all the time, but now,Remembering I’m that way too.

Duct Tape

Duct tape fixed anything,Umbrella that’s cracked or broken. Can fix a leaky sink.

or a Tub that drips.

Tape called duct tapeAmazing, sticky and greatPipe that broke, it can fix that too.Even a shoe that has a hole.

Remembering Grandpa

I was standing outside with the greatest man I ever knewunder the old pecan tree. It was just us two. He told stories of his life, such knowledge & truth, the most kindhearted man I ever knew. You could feel his love in every hughe gave. When he held you tight, you felt so safe. There’s not a daythat will go by I won’t think of that wonderful man, but I know in my heart this was God’s plan. I will love you forever & always, for you were the greatest man.

Ode to Not Doing Odes

Odes are very hard to do.Are they for you?I never know what to say.It takes me almost all day.I could say this.I could say that.It could be to a cat with a hiss, Or to the wings of a bat.So, I write this ode to not doing an odeBecause I’d much rather be hit by a toadThan write a stupid old ode!
