Production Process Evaluation

ResearchI think that my strengths in the research were finding other podcasts which are similar to my own and comparing them. I think listening to podcasts that already exist gave me a clear idea on how they are set out and what sort of things they include. I mainly listened to podcasts that had the same theme as the one I made and I noticed that most of them were formal and standard English which I also used in my own work. I think that my weakness was creating an audience profile and discussing why my product would appeal to that audience. Therefore I could of done my audience profile better and I could of added some more detail. I think that because of this I dont think that I had a clear understanding of the audience that would be listening to my podcast meaning that when I did production I was unsure.

What were the strengths of your research? How did your research help your product? What were the weaknesses of your research? What could you have done better/improve? What effect would this have had on your product?

PlanningI think that overall my planning went really well and I considered every aspect that I needed to. Thinking about the sound effects and music that I was going to use before I started my script and production made it easier to choose where I was going to included them. I had also already planned where I was going to get my sources from making that process much quicker. I also thought about the health and safety issues before I did the production. I think that my weakness in planning was doing to mind maps before I had thought about everything else in great detail. Most of my ideas that I included in my mind maps probably wouldnt of appealed to my audience choice or the theme I used because I listened to the existing products after producing my mind maps. I dont think that this effected my production work but it did make my mind maps irrelevant.

What were the strengths of your planning? How did your planning help your product? What were the weaknesses of your planning? What could you have done better/improve? What effect would this have had on your product?

Time ManagementI completed my project before the date that it was supposed to be finished, this is probably because I complete the pre-production as soon as I possibly can so I have more time to focus on my production. I then recorded my audio for my production in my own time so I had more time for editing. I also had my script completed to detail with every thing I was going to say so recording was simpler and quicker. Because I had spare time I cleared my production up of any gaps and I added some extra details.

Did you manage your time well? Did you complete your project on time or would your products have improved with additional time? What would you have done if you had more time to produce your work?

Target Audience AppealThe target audience that I was trying to focus on was males over the age of 15. I think I was successful at this because of the subjects I used and the use of language I chose to go by. I also made my podcast between 2-5 minutes making it quick to listen to therefore nobody was likely to get bored or loose track, also making it appeal to the younger audience. I chose a film which is aimed at people over the age of 16 but I didnt included any specific details about why the film has been given that rating. I made it clear in the podcast what the age rating for the film was so I wouldnt of given unclear understandings of the audience appeal. I also added sound effects and music that represented the film and the genre that it falls into.

Technical Qualities

Both my podcast and the film junk podcast have included an intro and outro music which is familiar and have introduced what they are going to talk about before they start talking. There is also a similar topic of film and TV throughout both podcast and the use of formal language is also the same. In my own podcast I have used more sound effect and music than have been included in the film junk podcast, this is probably because my podcast doesnt last as long and only focusing on one film at a time. Both podcasts will most likely have a similar audience appeal due to the theme and topic of films. I think that the film junk podcast is better than my own because it talks about more than one film and compares then and it also last a longer time.

Compare your work to similar existing products and discuss the similarities and differences

Aural QualitiesI think that my podcast was creative because of the use of sound effect and music that I included. I think that the quality of the recordings could of bee better because I used an iPhone in my spare time. I like how I have included the laughing and cheering sound effect because it adds some humour and makes it sound like there is a fake audience there. I also think that having the outro and intro the same was a good touch because people would be easily able to recognise the tune. If I was t improve anything from my podcast I would re-record my audio with a better quality recorder or I would make it longer and talk about more than one film. I think that my strength was editing the sound effects and putting them into the right order along with writing an appropriate script. I think that my weakness would be recording the audio pieces without any gaps or fillers.

Does your work sound good? Was it creative? What aspects of your products audio do you like? What would you improve? How would you improve it?Discuss the strengths and weaknesses

Audience AppealMy target audience was people over the age of 15 and mainly males which I think I have successfully done because of the use of language and humour that I chose to use. The film I chose to talk about was Deadpool and the age rating for the film is 16 and over so I think that 15 was a good choice. I think the music and sound effects I chose to use would really appeal to that audience because of the humour they bring to the podcast. The audio recordings that I did included lots of information and details about the film itself, likely I didnt included any spoilers.

Peer Feedback

Feedback 1What did you like about the product?I like how the music starts at the beginning and fades out to be in the background.I also like the constantly talking about 1 topic with sound effects that match that particular part. What improvements could have been made to the product?More sound effects there was a lot of laughing.

Feedback 2What did you like about the product?I liked the use of sound effects and music that was in the background. The film theme was really good and interesting.I also think that you made it up to a good length. What improvements could have been made to the product? You could of talked about more than one film.

Feedback 3What did you like about the product? The sound effects you used were really funny.I noticed that the background music related to the film you were talking about. What improvements could have been made to the product?Someone else could have been included in the podcast, for example interviewing them.

Peer Feedback SummaryWhat do you agree with from your peer feedback?I agree with what people have said about talking about more films or interviewing somebody in the podcast because this would of made it more interesting to listen to. I also agree that the way I used sound effect added humour and made it more fun. What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?I disagree with what people have said about the background music being a good touch because I thought I added a distraction from what was being said in the recording/audio. I would have been better if there was no background music or if I was quitter.

Peer Feedback Summary

The changes that I would make to my product based upon my peer feedback would be to include another person in the recording for the podcast and I would add some information on other films and made compare them to make it more interesting. I would also use some different sound effects rather than mainly just cheering and laughing.

What changes would you make to your product based upon your peer feedback and why?
