INTRODUCTIO N
Frank Fuller was born in Forth Worth, Texas in 1917 . Dori s
Fuller was born in Stockton, California in 1922 . They were married i n
Texas in 1945 and moved to San Jose, California in 1946 . During thi s
time, Doris worked as an opera singer, newspaper reporter, cashier ,
cannery worker and secretary . Frank, after his discharge from the U .S .
Army Air Force was an industrial worker and union organizer in th e
electrical industry . While raising four children, the Fullers pursue d
educational interests in Seattle, San Jose, San Francisco, Eugene, an d
Portland . Both were awarded Bachelor's degree in Geography (Frank i n
1961, Doris in 1962) . In 1963, they began careers as teachers - Fran k
as a high school social studies teacher and Doris as a school librarian .
From 1965 to 1967 Frank was International Asst . Director of Education &
Research for the Int . Woodworkers Union out of Portland .
In 1967, the Fullers moved to Sechelt, B .C . where they continue d
their professional careers and interest in labour activism . Doris becam e
president of the Sechelt Teacher's Association, and Frank was appointe d
to head the Labor Liaison Task Force of the B .C . Teacher's Federation .
I the latter years of his career, Frank became the foundin g
president of the Labour History Provincial Specialist Association of th e
BCTF, an organization dedicated to developing curriculum materials o n
labour history for B .C . schools . In 1930, he developed a curriculum o n
the Sechelt Indian cultural heritage . In 1981 was given an Honoary Lif e
Membership by the B .C .T .F . In 1985 Doris was elected to the Schoo l
District 46 Board of Trustees and Served until 1987 .
The Fullers' papers reflect their professional careers, labou r
activities, and personal lives, but the largest subgroup of th e
collection concern the activities of the Labour History Provincia l
Specialist Association of the BCTF, and the Sechelt Indian Curriculu mproject .
