Using the Oil Skimmer System
The Oil Skimmer S yst em is most effective if used aft er the cleaning solution in th e sump ha s been
sit t ing for a t least 30 minutes. The frequency a t which you must remove the oil from the w ash
solution will depend on ma chine usage. Un der typical opera ting conditions you can expect to
remove the oil once a w eek.
To remove oil from the clean ing solut ion, perform th e followin g procedure:
1. Allow t he machine to sit idle for a t least 30 minutes to allow the oil to float to the surface of
the wa sh solution.
2. En sure tha t th e oil collection conta iner is in place (see Figure 5-4), then turn the skimmer
sw itch t o the 30-minut e position.
3. Allow t he oil skimmer to opera te until it is no longer extracting oil from the cleaning solution.
TIP
While extracting oil from the cleaning solution, oil will flow off the wiper blades in a fine continuous stream. Water
will flow off the blades in droplets. Once droplets begin to flow off the wiper blades, stop the skimmer motor.
4. Dispose of the oil in the collection container in accorda nce with local and st at e regulations,
th en replace the conta iner.

2. If your ma chine is equipped with t he Auto-Fill feature, turn off the wa ter at the supply line.
3. Remove both sump covers, then dra in the wa sh solution from the sump cha mber. To drain
the solution either use the sump dra in or a sma ll submersible pump.
NOTE
Hotsy recommends that you reuse the wash solution. To do so, transfer it to a suitable holding container (such asa 55-gallon drum) while you clean out the sump chamber.
4. Remove sand a nd other debris from the bottom of the sump chamber a nd the detail sump. To
remove the debris either flush it out thr ough t he sump dra in, or vacuum it out using a wet/dry
vac. Dispose of the debris in a ccordance with applica ble local, sta te, and federa l regulat ions.
NOTE
Take special care to ensure that the heating element is free of debris. A build up of debris around the element will
decrease heating performance and may cause the element to overheat and fail .
5. Transfer the wash solut ion back to the sump chamber, and add fresh wat er i f necessary.
6. Replace the sump covers, heat the wash w at er to operat ing temperat ure.
7. Add the appropr ia te amount of Hotsy TubM ate All -Pur pose Deter gent(12 cups normal
