From Our Pastor

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

St. Paul urges us this Sunday to “be transformed by

the renewal of your mind”. As we actually come to

knowledge of the truth it can change and shape the

way we see reality. As St. Paul writes this, it is an

invitation to more and more see reality as it is actually

intended to be. This renewal of the mind takes place

as we come to know the truth of who God is and who

we are. We are made in His image and likeness. As

our minds are renewed we begin to love as Christ

loves, transformed into who we were created to be.

As a parish, I invite us to be pleading with the Lord for

deeper knowledge in this regard.

Financial Update One of the key areas for growth

that came up from the Disciple Maker Index Survey

back in February was financial transparency with the

parish. As a staff, we definitely want to foster greater

transparency and accountability in this regard. A key

piece of this is sharing our year end financial infor-

mation with all of you. We are in the process of pre-

paring this, and we look forward to sharing it with you

later in September.

JPII Healing Center I write this from the conference

I am currently attending with the healing center for

further training in healing prayer. It is only Tuesday

but it has already been an incredibly blessed week. I

look forward to sharing these graces with all of you.

In Christ,

Fr. Dan

The Spiritual Exercises in Daily Life

The Spiritual Exercises, developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola,

offer a way to grow in prayer; to develop a real and personal

relationship with God; to see more clearly God’s presence in

creation, your personal life story and current life circumstances;

and to know Jesus more intimately, love Him more deeply and

follow Him more closely. The opportunity to pray and reflect on

the Spiritual Exercises in the midst of daily life requires a com-

mitment to pray daily for an hour on specific scriptures and

meditations, and meet weekly with a spiritual director for a

period of 910 months. It is preferred to begin the

Exercises in September, which then follow closely

with the Liturgical year. If you are interested,

contact Nancy Rolph for more information at

[email protected] or phone 7346494657

Follow the Lord with nothing less than the cross: offering ourselves

with Jesus as a living sacrifice and not conforming ourselves to this
