7.2 Air Conditioners

Air conditioners, heaters and air conditioners. Excludes equipmentusing energy sources other than electricity for heating, types whosecooling capacity is over 28 kW, water-cooled types, and others stipulatedunder Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry ordinances.

Cooling energy consumption efficiency is a numeric value obtained bycalculating cooling capacity as measured in the manner stipulated byJapanese Industrial Standards (JIS) B8615-1 or B8615-2, divided by coolingpower consumption measured in the same way (known as COP). For airconditioners/heaters, it is a numeric value acquired by calculating totalcooling energy consumption efficiency and heating energy consumptionefficiency, obtained in the same manner as cooling energy consumptionefficiency, divided by two as the average of cooling/heating energyconsumption efficiency.

Remarks 1. “Machines serving cold only” refers to vending machines that refrigerate the products sold.2. “Machines serving hot or cold” refers to vending machines that refrigerate or warm the products sold.3. “Machines for hot and cold” refers to vending machines that refrigerate and warm products. Machines

have warm section and cold sections separated by an inside partition.4. E, V, and Va express the following numeric values.

E: Standard energy consumption efficiency (unit: kWh/year)V: Actual internal volume (indicates the numeric value based on the internal dimensions of the goodsstorage area) (unit: l)Va:Adjusted internal volume(indicates numeric value acquired first by multiplying the actual internalvolume of the heating cabinet by 40, which is divided by 11, and then by adding the result to actualinternal volume of the chill box) (unit: liter)

Limited to transformers for high voltage acceptance of electricity withthe rated primary voltage of over 600 and less than 7,000 volts used foralternating current cabling. Transformers described in the ordinance ofMinistry of Economy, Trade and Industry, such as those that use gas asinsulation and those utility pole models are excluded.

Energy consumption efficiency is the total loss (W) acquired throughthe no-load loss and load loss measured using the method stipulated byJIS C4303 and C4306.

1: 2006 for oil-filled transformers 2: 2007 for molded transformers

Approximately 30.3% improvement in efficiency compared to 1999levels in the target year

Product name and type, transformer type, rated capacity, number ofphases, rated frequency, rated primary and secondary voltage, energyconsumption efficiency, standard load factor, name of standard, manufacturer’s name

Catalogues that show performance data. Data provided by the manufacturers when selecting the equipment.

calculation formula

*For transformers that are not used under standard conditions described by JISC4304 and C4036, as well as JEMAstandards 1474 and 1475, the target standard value is obtained by multiplying 1.10 for oil-filled transformers and1.05 for molded transformers to the respective formulas specified in above category.

Remarks 1. Oil-filled transformers are transformers that use insulating oil as insulating materials.2. Molded transformers are transformers that use resin insulating materials.3. E and S express the following numeric values.

E: Standard energy consumption efficiency (unit: W)S: Rated capacity (unit: kVA)
