The names of Cherub’s members are Jordan Kelley andJason Huber. If you ever see them in public, don’t yell out, “Hey Cherub!”. You’ll feel like a dope. Now that you know their names, you can approach Jordan and Jason for autographs with confidence.

1

Jordan and Jason met at Middle Tennessee State University. They both studied music promotion and hung out for 5 years before joining forces to create Cherub’s electronic music. They use a number of different software packages like Pro Tools, Reason and Ableton to make their music.

Cherub’s success didn’t come right away. They toured like maniacs togain exposure and build a following. They played frat parties, clubs andjust about any venue that would take them. Eventually, Cherub hit atipping point that culminated in their breakthrough single, “Doses and Mimosas”. This track reached number 23 on the Alternative Songs music chart and its video has nearly 500,000 YouTube views.

4While Cherub is now on a major label in Columbia Records, nothing has really changed. They still make their albums ata buddy’s home studio in Franklin that they refer to as “The Stu”.

The third song from the group’s latest album, Year of the Caprese, is called “Work The Middle”. The original name for the song was “The Back and Forth Song” but it had to be changed as it sounded too similar to Aaliyah’s 1994“Back and Forth” single.

5

While many would assume that Cherub’s music is heavily influencedby 80s electronic music and pop groups, Jason and Jordan are inspired by all sorts of music including heavy metal. Both like to point out that their interest in R&B had a strong influence on their last album, Year of the Caprese, which was released this past summer.

6

They’re grounded. Both Jason and Jordan come from humble beginnings and they don’t take anything for granted. Jordan workedas a sandwich artist at Subway. Subway actually laid him off two weeks before Cherub first went on tour. Jordan claims that his main dietary staple on the come up was McDonald’s 20 piece Chicken McNuggets.
