2)–25 = 7h + 3

* Solve the equations

19. Difference

What does this word mean to you?

This word actually means…..the result when 2 numbers are subtracted.

Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

20. Factor

What does this word mean to you?

This word actually means…..a number that is multiplied by another number to get a product.

Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

2)

Solve the equations

21. Equivalent

What does this word mean to you?

This word actually means…..having the same value.

Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

Lesson

• ... solve real-world problems involving the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division of rational numbers? (7.NS.3)

Exit / Closure

In math, what is the definition of additive inverse. When do you see additive inverse being used?

Adding Decimals

Subtracting Decimals

Wednesday: Bell Work

1) Danielle spent $35 on a magazine and some notepads. If the magazine cost $3 and each notepad cost $4 then how many notepads did she buy?

*Write and solve the 2-step equation. The variable cannot be in the answer.*

How to Multiply Decimals

Just follow these steps:

Multiply normally, ignoring the decimal points.

Then put the decimal point in the answer - it will have as many decimal places as the two original numbers combined.

22. Inequality

What does this word mean to you?

This word actually means…..two values or quantities that are not equal.

Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

Lesson

• ... solve real-world problems involving the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division of rational numbers? (7.NS.3)

Exit / Closure

• Why is it important to line the decimals up with adding or subtracting? How does this relate to your knowledge of place value?

Thursday: Bell Work1) Jamie had $20 to spend on seven raffletickets. After buying them she had $6. Howmuch did each raffle ticket cost?

Write and solve the 2-step equation. The variable cannot be in the answer.*

23. Contextual

What does this word mean to you?

This word actually means…..using words to explain the meaning of a statement.

Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

24. Compare

What does this word mean to you?

This word actually means…..measure the similarities and/or differences between quantities.

Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

Lesson

• ... solve real-world problems involving the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division of rational numbers? (7.NS.3)

• N2K 3

Critical Thinking Activity

5. Select the most accurate decimal form for the fraction 2/9.

_

A) 0.2

B) 2.9

C) 0.2

D) 4.5• WB p. 102

Constructed Response 5. Arianne was given the fraction 13/8 and was told to

convert it into its decimal form. Her work is below: ___.1625___8 ) 13 -8 5 0 -48 2 0 -16

4 0 -40 0

She got the decimal 0.1625 for the decimal. Is she correct? Use estimation to justify your answer.

Exit / Closure

• What is the importance of checking your work in math?

• Discuss with a partner

Friday: Bell WorkAshley spent half of her weekly allowance

playing mini-golf. To earn more money her

parents let her wash the car for $9. What is

her weekly allowance if she ended with

$15?

*Write and solve a 2-step equation.

***notes for Agenda

Word Wall Vocabulary Quiz – Monday 9/22

Benchmark – Monday 9/29

Ch 3 Test – Friday 10/3

25. Convert

What does this word mean to you?

This word actually means…..to express a value in another form.

Examples… Explain how you would use this word in math.

Lesson

• ... solve real-world problems involving the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and/or division of rational numbers? (7.NS.3)

Dividing Decimals

Dividing a Decimal Number by a Whole Number

To divide a decimal number by a whole number:

Use Division or Long Division (ignoring the decimal point)

Then put the decimal point in the same spot as the dividend (the number being divided)

Dividing by a Decimal NumberBut what if we want to divide by a Decimal Number? The trick is to change the number we are dividing by to a

whole number first, by shifting the decimal point of both numbers to the right:

Now we are dividing by a whole number, and can

continue as normal. It is safe to do this if we remember to shift the decimal point

of both numbers the same number of places.

Exit / Closure

• Tommy said that 4 + 2 x = -24 x is 14.

• Justify whether Tommy is incorrect or correct.

• ***Be ready to explain your answer to a partner.
