1. Overall

Responsible and Accountable to Programme Manager – Bristol Ageing Better

Hours Full time – 35 hours per week

Term Until March 2020

Salary £21,319

Holidays Starting at 24 days per annum plus public holidays

2. Job purpose

At Age UK Bristol we help make sure that everyone in Bristol can love later life. We do this by supporting and empowering older people, helping other organisations to work together, and championing the interests of older people in the city.

Bristol Ageing Better (BAB) works with local organisations to help older people across the city live fulfilling lives.

We work with all lonely and isolated lonely people in Bristol but also have 8 specific groups who we identified as most at risk of isolation and loneliness.

This role will be working with one of those groups, Older LGBT people and will have the following responsibilities:

To:

Work in partnership with the wider BAB projects and providers of BAB services to achieve BAB overall aims and outcomes.

Used asset based approaches to deliver a community development project for older LGBT people.

3. Main duties and responsibilities

(a) Working with older people

To:

Establish effective systems and a range of engagement methods through which a cross section of local older people, including the more isolated, have the opportunity to engage with the LGBT community development project

Support the BAB data collection processes Develop and deliver against a work plan Be the first point of contact for LGBT Community development work under BAB,

reporting back to the Programme Manager Maintain agreed monitoring and evaluation procedures in order to produce regular

reports of activities and outcomes and report back to relevant stakeholders Develop connections with the other Ageing Better areas Work with the Communications Officer to communicate the achievements of the

Bristol Ageing Better projects to different stakeholders Use asset based approaches through your work Work with a range of partners to recruit and engage isolated and lonely older LGBT

people.

4. Other

To:

Work alongside BAB volunteers and provide support when required Act as an ambassador for the BAB Programme Work with other BAB staff to enable input from older people throughout the BAB

Programme Promote positive images of ageing and work to dispel negative stereotypes of older

people
