Cereals production in Europe is until now, more or less stable, but there are several question marks for the future
• shrinking of agricultural land (soil sealing, soil degradation processes)
• climate change
• competition with bioenergy crops
• the energy incognita(fertilizers, pesticides, etc.)

The global agricultural productivity loss (EU 20) it has been estimated in 4.5 milions of
tonnes of wheat

Which soils have been lost?
The evaluations presented are based on the avearage productivity of the Nuts 2 units (e.g. italian regions)
Next step of this research will be the evaluation of the specific productivity potential, based on:
