New • After agrofood West Africa 2018 took place in Abidjan, Ivory Coast this

major event for West African agrofood professionals is now once again back to Accra, Ghana.

• In 2020, agrofood West Africa will then return to Abidjan, Ivory Coast.

The agrofood West Africa 2019 in Accra is aimed at trade visitors from all over West Africa• agrofood West Africa is aimed both at anglophone and francophone West

African countries. Whether the event is held in Accra or Abidjan.

• Trade is frequent and dynamic between the countries, road infrastructure is good and distances are not too far.

Once again in 2019, adepta will lead a delegation of French companies to exhibit in an official French Pavilion at agrofood West Africa.

HortiFresh by the Netherlands Government will once again organize an official Holland Pavilion at agrofood West Africa 2019.

The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands will book the official Dutch pavilion to represent Dutch brands in there. Panel discussions and expert sessions in the HOLLAND LOUNGE will accompany the presentation.

The success story continues: France and Holland renew their participation for 2019 – Germany and Turkey will for the first time be present with official country pavilions.

For the very first time an official German Pavilion will be represented at the 2019 event. The pavilion is presented by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the AUMA Association of the German Trade Fair Industry and supported by the DLG German Agricultural Society.

Visitors at the 2019 event will for the first time be able to profit from an official Turkish pavilion with leading Turkish technology on offer. The pavilion enjoys the support of the Turkish Ministry of Trade.

DLG and fairtrade enter into strategic partnershipSince 2013 agro West Africa has been organized by fairtrade as part of agrofoodWest Africa. Now DLG (German Agricultural Society) enters into strategic partnership with fairtrade for this event in Ghana and those in Ivory Coast, Ethiopia and Nigeria and brings in its agro and trade fair expertise by introducing its AgroTech brand to the agro events of fairtrade’s agrofood trade shows. 

The focus of the cooperation lies on agricultural technology, animal production, flori- and horticulture and hot-house technology. The cooperation was officially announced during Agritechnica 2017.

Economic dataThe Economic Community of West African States - ECOWAS is a regional economic union of fifteen countries, namely Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.The union was established in 1975 in Lagos to promote economic integration across the region. The goal of ECOWAS is to achieve „collective self-sufficiency“ for its member states by creating a single large trading bloc by building a full economic and trading union.ECOWAS includes two sub-regional blocs:

• The West African Economic and Monetary Union is an organization of eight, mainly French-speaking, states within the ECOWAS which share a customs union and currency union. Established in 1994 and intended to counterbalance the dominance of English-speaking economies in the bloc (such as Nigeria and Ghana), members of UEMOA are mostly former territories of French West Africa. The currency they all use is the CFA franc, which is pegged to the euro.

• The West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ), established in 2000, comprises six mainly English-speaking countries within ECOWAS which plan to work towards adopting their own common currency, the eco.
