ANNOUNCEMENT &CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Page 2: 6th International Conference on Earthquake Engineering and

Dear Collegues,

We are happy to announce that the 6th International Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (6ICEES) will be hosted by Gebze Technical University (GTU) Civil Engineering Department. The conference will take place at GTU Congress and Cultural Center (GTU-CCC), Gebze, Turkey between October 13th-15th, 2021.

The conference aims at bringing together scientists, professionals, governmental officials and non-governmental organizations working in the field of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology. It will provide a unique opportunity for exchanging ideas and help create contacts among the scientist for future bilateral and multi-lateral scientific cooperation internationally and nationally. This conference will cover a wide variety of subjects on Earthquake Engineering and Seismology from disaster management and risks, economical and social impacts of earthquakes, induced and triggered seismicity to machine learning in seismology and earthquake engineering, performance-based design of structures, seismic resilience, structural health monitoring. The 6ICEES will offer various programs including Keynote/Parallel/Special, Poster, Young Researcher Sessions as well exhibitions. Prior to conference, a two-day short course on various topics on October 11-12, 2021 is also being planned.

GTU is one of Turkey’s leading universities and has been declared as one of the ten research universities of Turkey. GTU is located at the heart of the industry, at a key location that connects Asia and Europe. It is maximum 1 hour away from Istanbul, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Bursa and Yalova cities and a 15-minute drive from Sabiha Gökçen Airport. LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENTOF 6ICESS ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

Page 3: 6th International Conference on Earthquake Engineering and

On behalf of the Earthquake Engineering Association of Turkey (EEAT), it is my great honor to invite you to the 6th International Conference on Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (6ICEES), which will be held during 13-15 October 2021 at Gebze Technical University (GTU) Congress and Culture Center. The organization will be hosted by GTU Civil Engineering Department.

Turkey has been subjected to devastating earthquakes in the past, and the raise of the public awareness in Turkey raised significantly after the 1999 Kocaeli earthquake. Public and private sectors took immediate actions against earthquakes. Since then, a number of earthquake awareness programs were initiated and risk reduction methodologies were implemented to all types of structures. In addition to structures, implementation of proper structural or non-structural risk mitigation tools for critical infrastructure is also required for safety purposes and to reduce the insurance premiums of the facilities. Thus, this conference aims at not only bringing together scientists, professionals, governmental officials and NGOs working in the field of earthquake engineering and seismology, but also discussing the current problems in earthquake engineering related problems. It will provide a unique opportunity for exchanging ideas and help create contacts among the scientist for future bilateral and multi-lateral scientific cooperation nationally and internationally.

We are looking forward to your participation and support to this conference, which will be held at GTU, Kocaeli, one of the main industrial and trade center of the Marmara region.

Best Regards,

Prof. Dr. Bilge SiyahiPresident of EEAT
