Make sure warning markings are attached on the main unit. If any of them are missing or the wording is illegible, contact Toshiba's Service Department.

2. Precaution on Installation

WARNING

CAUTION

Avoid the following locations when installing or storaging the equipment. • Locations where there is dust, salinity, or ion

particles • Locations where there are corrosive gases

(SO2, H2S) or flammable gases • Locations where vibration or shock occurs

beyond the allowance • Locations where there is condensation due

to sharp temperature variations • Locations where the ambient temperature

exceeds the allowance range • Locations where the relative humidity

exceeds the allowance range • Locations where the equipment is exposed

to direct sunlight • Locations where strong electric radiation or

magnetic field is generated

Improper the installation or writing of the system can cause not only insufficient performance but also malfunction and failure of the equipment

Be sure to ground the equipment. Operation without grounding may cause accidental fire or shock.

Mandatory

Mandatory

Install the equipment at a place where maintenance and inspection are easy to do. Otherwise, recovery from failure may take much more time, leading to a serious accidents.

1 Restrictions (1) Do not mix V-Tool Ver 1 and Ver 2, standalone version and client/server version, or

Japanese version and English version in the same setup partition.

(2) Use separate setup partitions if you need to mix install any of the above combinations on a single PC.

(3) You must use a Japanese operating system in order to use the Japanese Version V-Tool.

(4) You must use an English or Japanese operating system in order to use the English Version V-Tool.

(5) You cannot use files created with the Japanese version V-Tool in an English version V-Tool.

2.1.1 Step1: Set Up Windows Platform (S/A)

Is the setup of Windows OS finished?

Those who do not finished it need to setup it according to the manual of the Windows OS.

This step explains some settings as follows for those who have finished it.

In case of WindowsNT, perform these operations as Administrator.

• A Setup of Network

• A Setup of IP Address

• Create Tool Manager’s Folder

When OS is WindowsNT, please refer to "2.1.1.1 Case of WindowsNT."

When OS is Windows2000, please refer to "2.1.1.2 Case of Windows2000."

When OS is WindowsXP, please refer to "2.1.1.3 Case of WindowsXP."

2.1.1.1 Case of WindowsNT

See the following topics [ A Setup of Network ] and [ A Setup of IP Address ],if you need to connect V-Tool to the V series Controllers. If not ,skip these and see the following topics [Create Tool Manager’s Folder].

A Setup of Network The Network here means 10BASE-T,10BASE2 or 10BASE5 Ethernet which is applied to V-series.

The Network Adapter is a peripheral device for connecting with the Network.

The manufacturer of the adapter may call it "LAN Card", "Network Card", "Ethernet PC Card" ,etc.

Attach the network adapter to your personal computer according the manual if not yet.

In order to make a personal computer recognize a network adapter, it is general that the exclusive driver software should be installed

2.2.1.1 Case of WindowsNT

If you wish to communicate with the controller via Ethernet, perform Network setup and IP address setup.

If you intend to use RS-232C only, then you can proceed directly to Tool manager folder creation.

Network setup Perform this for the client PC and server PC.

Network in this case refers to the 10BASE-T, 10BASE2, 10BASE5 and Ethernet connecting the V-Tool and the V series controller. Network adapter is a peripheral device for connecting to the Ethernet. Depending on the manufacturer, it may be called a LAN Card, Network Card, Ethernet PC Card, etc.

If your PC does not already have a network adapter, install an adapter with 10BASE-T, 10BASE2, or 10BASE5 interface. Refer to your PC and network adapter manuals for the installation procedure.

In order for your PC to recognize the network adapter, you must install a custom driver software. Refer to the manual for the respective network adapter and install the driver.

IP address setup Perform this for the client PC and server PC.

• IP address is a network adapter (node) address on the Ethernet. Here, set the IP address of the V-Tool itself.

• From the Windows desktop, right click [Network Neighborhood] and select <Properties>.

• Select [TCP/IP] in the [Protocols] tab and click the [Properties] button.

When V-Tool is already set up in the personal computer, how to upgrade V-Tool(Version Up) is as follows.

Perform these operations as Administrator.

• Backing up User's System

• Delete V-Tool

• Setup V-Tool

When you want to return V-Tool to the older revision, see the following item.

• Restoring backed up User's System.

Backing up User's System

When you install new revision of V-Tool and open your System, V-Tool may revise your System database.

For example, Ver.2.6 or upper revision of V-Tool, which has the program security function, will attach password to your System database files.

Then, the older revision of V-Tool can not open the new revision of your System. To avoid the problem, you had better back up your System before revising your V-Tool. There are two methods to back up System as follows. Please select the method, as you want.

Method 1: Using System's Export of V-Tool

System's Export function will pack your System database files to one file. The file will be compressed. It will take more time then Method 2.

Please see the V-Tool manual ‘Basic Section: V-Tool Maintenance: Importing/Exporting User System'.

Method 2: Using Windows Explore

You can copy your System holder and files to the other location using Windows Explore. The files will not be compressed. It will take less time then Method 1.The operation is shown as follows.

• End V-Tool.

• Click button Start and menu <Program><Explore>.

• Confirm free disk space of the copy destination is sufficient.

• Find your product pass and System folder. Your product path will appear on title bar of product tree view as follows. And your System folder will appear under the product path as follows.
