*LITANY Kay Yurigan One: Love God with your bright spirits. All: Let us shine on our neighbors. One: Love God with your hopeful hearts. All: Let us welcome one another, wherever gathered. Here in church or in the sanctuaries of our

homes. One: Love God with the depths of your worship. All: Let us share praise, confession, and our many gifts of precious grace.

*UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION

God of all mercy, we confess before you and each other that we have been unfaithful to you. We lack love for our neighbors, we waste opportunities to do good, and we look the other way when you cry out to us in the suffering of our brothers and sisters in need. We ask your forgiveness and pray for strength that we may follow in your way and love all your people with that perfect love which casts out all fear; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.

ATTENDING TO GOD’S WORD

ANTIPHONAL READING FROM THE PSALTER Clergy, Cantor, and Congregation

Antiphon: Congregation may join the cantor in singing the antiphon. Psalm 8 LEE DENGLER

Cantor and Congregation One: O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the

heavens. Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.

Cantor and Congregation One: When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established;

what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? Cantor and Congregation One: Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor. You have

given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O LORD, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Cantor and Congregation

RESPONSE One: May God who brings life out of death and hope from despair, give us life today. All: Amen

READING FROM THE GOSPEL Elaine A. Matthes

One: The words of Christ are our teachers. All: And Jesus himself is our Guide.

Matthew 28:16-20

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’

RESPONSE One: The promise is for us and for sharing. All: Christ is with us to the end of the age.

*HYMN OF DEVOTION “Lord You Give the Great Commission ” ABBOT’S LEIGH

SERMON “Just Go...” Rev. Dr. Anna V. Copeland

“Follow everything that I have commanded you.”

OFFERTORY “Do Not Be Afraid” The Community Quintet Philip Stopford

Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine, you are mine. When you walk through the waters, I’ll be with you; you will never sink beneath the waves.

When the fire is burning all around you, you will never be consumed by the flames. Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine, you are mine.

When the fear of loneliness is looming, then remember I am at your side. When you dwell in exile of a stranger, remember you are precious in my eyes.

Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine, you are mine. You are mine, O my child, I am your Father, and I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.

I love you with a perfect love, a perfect love. Do not be afraid, do not be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name; you are mine, you are mine.

SACRAMENT OF HOLY COMMUNION

INVITATION TO THE TABLE Rev. Dr. Anna V. Copeland

CALL TO COMMUNION One: God be with you. All: And, also with you. One: Lift up your hearts. All: We lift them to God. One: Let us thanks to God Most High. All: It is right to give God thanks and praise. WORDS OF INSTITUTION

No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here. Everyone is welcome to share in Holy Communion!

SHARING OF THE BREAD AND CUP DISTRIBUTION MUSIC “I Am the Bread of Life” The Community Quintet

arr. Richard Proulx

I am the bread of life, you who come to me shall not hunger, and who believe in me shall not thirst. No one can come to me unless the Father beckons.

Refrain: And I will raise you up, and I will raise you up, And I will raise you up on the last day.

The bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world, And if you eat of this bread, you shall live forever, you shall live forever. Refrain.

I am the Resurrection, I am the life. If you believe in me, even though you die, you shall live forever Refrain.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AND THE LORD’S PRAYER (SUNG)

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors,

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
