All Contractors bidding on this project shall read all of the items covered below and shall comply with all of the requirements as set forth, including any necessary refinements or additions generated by this Addendum and required by the intent of the original contract documents. All Contractors shall acknowledge on their bid form that they have received this Addendum and included the appropriate content of same within their bid proposal. ADDENDUM ‐ 02 

Addendum - 02 to the Drawings and Specifications dated, February 2016, for Vincennes University Vigo Residence Hall – HVAC Renovations, located at the Vincennes Campus in Vincennes, Indiana, as prepared by Andrew Young, Campus Architect, Vincennes University.

All Contractors bidding on this project shall read all of the items covered below and shall comply with all of the requirements as set forth, including any necessary refinements or additions generated by this Addendum and required by the intent of the original contract documents. All Contractors shall acknowledge on their bid form that they have received this Addendum and included the appropriate content of same within their bid proposal.

For the convenience of the bidders, bid categories possibly affected in price and/or construction by the various items in this Addendum are listed at the beginning of each item.

GENERAL ITEMS:

1. Pre-Bid Questions & Clarifications A. Owner & Engineer will not accept any pre-bid questions from contractors,

suppliers, equipment representatives, etc. after 12:00 PM local time, on Monday, March 21, 2016.

2. Owner-Provided Concrete A. Owner to provide cast-in-place concrete, not to exceed 150 cubic yards.

All other concrete to be provided by the Contractor. Owner provides concrete material only, while Contractor provides labor, forms, rebar, accessories, etc.

4. Mechanical Equipment A. Mechanical Contract & Unified Contract shall provide – as Alternate #5 –

costs & lead times for alternate Daikin-McQuay and Trane equipment, as follows:

a. Chiller #1 b. Chiller #2 c. MAU-1 d. MAU-2

B. All alternate equipment shall match the specified equipment’s utility requirements, capacities, efficiencies, and dimensions/weights. Contractor shall be responsible for any building or system re-design fees incurred from Owner accepting any of the Contractor’s requested alternate equipment.

C. No alternates shall be accepted for fan coil units specified.

5. Alternate No. 1: Common Area / Public Space Interior Lighting A. Lighting occupancy sensors, wiring, & controllers are already installed in all

corridors. Electrical Contract & Unified Contract shall provide an additional deduct cost to Alternate No. 1, to maintain all corridor occupancy sensors, wiring, & controllers in place. This deduct price to only apply to corridors.

6. Temperature Controls Data Drops A. Electrical Contractor shall provide for (8) CAT6 network data drops &

terminations, from existing IT Rooms #154 or 254, to the following rooms: a. (2) network data drops to Main Mechanical Room #146/147 b. (2) network data drops to Room #198 c. (2) network data drops to Room #288 d. (2) network data drops to Room #388

7. Door Hardware

A. All new locksets shall be mortised.

8. Painting A. In dormitory sleeping rooms, Contractor shall provide for (1) coat interior

latex primer and (2) coats interior flat finish (white) equal to Sherwin

Williams Emerald. Paint to be spray-applied to entire room ceiling. Provide color charts for final Owner color selection.

B. In new mechanical room, Contractor shall provide for (1) coat interior latex primer and (2) coats interior semi-gloss finish (white) equal to Sherwin Williams Emerald. Paint to be spray-applied or roller-applied to all walls & ceilings – both new & existing. Provide color charts for final Owner color selection.

C. For existing door frames, Contractor shall scrape all peeling & cracking paint, sand with high-grit sandpaper, feather edges, provide for (1) coat interior anti-corrosive latex primer and (2) coats interior high gloss enamel equal to Sherwin Williams ProClassic. Paint to be spray-applied. Provide color charts for final Owner color selection.

D. For new hollow metal doors & frames, doors shall be shop-primed in compliance with SDI A250.10. Contractor shall provide for (2) coats interior high-gloss enamel equal to Sherwin Williams ProClassic. Paint to be spray-applied. Provide color charts for final Owner color selection.

SPECIFICATIONS:

1. Specification Section 230548 Vibration and Seismic Controls for HVAC Piping and Equipment A. To clarify Addendum - 01, Contractor shall install spring isolators on all pipe

supports connected to & within 50-feet of all motorized equipment, pumps, tanks, evaporator barrels, steam/hot water converter, etc.

B. Contractor to use the following parameters for seismic restraint submittals: a. Code 2014 Indiana Building Code (2012 International Building Code with

Indiana Amendments) b. Site Class: C c. Risk Category III

2. Specification Section 230593 Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing for HVAC

A. All air- and water-side balancing shall be completed by Friday, September 16, 2016. No liquidated damage penalties shall apply for any work associated with balancing dormitory sleeping room systems.

Balance Contractor shall coordinate with Owner’s schedule to gain access to rooms.

B. The following test & balance contractors are also approved for this project:

a. Midwest Mechanical Services, Inc. - Evansville, Indiana b. Flo-Tech, Inc. - Elberfeld, Indiana c. Thermal Test & Balance, Inc. - Lexington, Kentucky d. Gibson Services Co. - Terre Haute, Indiana

3. Specification Section 230900 Instrumentation and Control for HVAC

A. For dormitory sleeping rooms, Mechanical Contractor shall provide Andover Continuum B3867 controller with the following points of Control:

a. (5) Universal input points b. (5) form A Digital output points, 1/2 Amp capacity each c. (2) Analog output points (0-10VDC) each. d. Connected points for each unit FCU controller:

1. (AIP) Space Temperature Sensor 2. (AIP) Space Temperature Sensor Adjustment set point Slide 3. (AIP) FCU leaving Air Temperature Sensor 4. (AIP) Current Switch Fan status point 5. (DOP) Supply Fan Start/Stop (medium speed) 6. (DOP) Supply fan Start/Stop (high speed) 7. (AOP) Chilled Water Coil control Valve (0-10 VDC) 8. (AOP) Hot water Coil Control valve (0-10 VDC)

B. Mechanical Contractor shall provide for each dormitory sleeping room: a. A 14” x 14” x controller 277V to 24 VAC 50 VA transformer, (2) fan speed

relays, termination strips and a 277V combination fuse and disconnecting means.

b. Coordination with all other Contractors as to provide access for components going above the ceiling access door.

c. A modulating chilled water valve and a hot water valve (2-way or 3-way) as required in the drawings. The program shall be written to provide for sequencing of the 2 valves with an adjustable dead band of 1.5 degree. The slide adjustment on the room sensor shall be programmed for a 72 -leaving air temperature from the FCU for trouble shooting and alarming.

The program shall be written to provide natural dehumidification during cooling operation using the high and low speed fan control.

C. The FCU's located in common spaces where 2 or 3 units serve the same area shall be controlled by one space sensor. Verify the Occupied/Unoccupied schedule for these areas w.

2. Specification Section 232123 HVAC Pumps, General A. Mechanical Contractor to provide for butterfly valves, located on both

suction & discharge sides of all base-mounted pumps.

3. Specification Section 236426 Chiller A. To clarify specification, factory-installed power factory correction

capacitors are not necessary. B. To clarify specification, factory-installed EMI filters are not necessary. C. To clarify specification, each chiller shall have ground fault protection. D. To clarify specification, evaporator barrel shall have 1.5” closed cell

polyurethane insulation. E. To clarify specification, evaporator barrel shall have factory-wired flow

switch. F. To clarify specification, each chiller shall have 480V single-point power

connections.

DRAWINGS:

1. Sheet M0.01 A. To clarify Sheet M0.01 - Equipment - C, each contract shall be responsible

for their own concrete housekeeping pads, rather than the General Contractor.

B. To clarify Sheet M0.01 - Equipment - I, each contract shall be responsible for their own rooftop curb, under-steel reinforcement, and flash/counterflash installation, rather than the General Contractor. Each Contractor shall employ an Owner-approved roofing contractor.

A. Revise the specification for dormitory sleeping room fan coil units, from Magicaire CHA 04, 360 cfm, 4-row cooling coil & 1-row heating coil to Magicaire CHA 06, 360 cfm, 4-row cooling coil & 1-row heating coil, 277V standard static blower, 44F EWT and 56F LWT.

3. Sheet E0.01 A. To clarify Sheet E0.01 - Equipment - D, each contract shall be responsible

for their own concrete housekeeping pads, rather than the General Contractor.
