• The southern flying squirrels are found in Canada, the eastern half of United States and parts of the west. They enjoy being in tall trees, like pine trees.

• Southern flying squirrels eat mostly plants, nuts, leaves, sap, bark, flowers and roots. They also eat insects, eggs, worms, small birds and other small animals.

• When a predator tries to get it, it will glide from tree to tree where it will jump higher. It then scurries around the other side of the tree trunk to escape.
