Production Reflection

Your Name

ProcessAfter going through the Filter menu, curious to see what effects would come from each filter, I discovered the Ripple filter, and from there on I decided to make an animation of rectangles ‘rippling’.

Process After adding a rectangle to the canvas using the Shape tool, I duplicated the layer containing it 4 times, and stacked them on top of each other, while leaving some space in between.

Process

I merged all the shapes together into a single layer, and then I duplicated this layer 20 times. Following this, I created a Timeline and converted the layers to frame animation.

With the first layer selected, I went to Filter > Distort > Ripple, but I didn’t change any of the settings in the Ripple window.

Process

I have named my layers in accordance to in which frame they will appear in, i.e., the layer called ‘frame 1’ will appear in the first frame, and the layer named ‘frame 2’ will appear in the second frame.

I have added a Ripple effect to the second layer, but this time I set the amount to 200% (instead of the default 100%) within the ‘Ripple’ window. The Ripple amount will be increased by 100% for every frame.

ProcessI repeated the process of adding new frames in the Timeline and applying the Ripple filter to the corresponding layer until the slider in the Ripple window reached its limit (1000%).

Below you can see what it looks like so far:

It looks a bit plain as it is, so I’m going to make it so that the black rectangles have a different colour in each frame.

ProcessI added colour to the black rectangles by right-clicking on the first layer and selecting Blending Options from the context menu. Then, in the Blending Options window, I applied a Color Overlay and selected a shade of red in the Color Picker window.

I am going to be applying this process for each layer, except that I will add a different colour each time.

Process

I have added colour to four more slides. As you can see, the colours follow each other seamlessly, kind of like a rainbow. I used the Color Slider inside of the Color Picker window as a guide when I applied the colours.

ProcessI’ve finished applying all the colours.

I made it loop seamlessly by making the colour of the last frame orange. This means that you won’t be able to notice when the gif ends and it plays over again.

I have also set the Frame Delay to 0.05 seconds. The Frame Delay is set as 5 seconds by default, but this was too slow for the effect I was trying to achieve.

Here is the finished product.Don’t look at it for too long.
