Logistics for In-Person Training

> Logistics

– Recommendation – 20 students maximum for 1 trainer– Venue

> Sufficient room for number of students> Sufficient lighting and comfortable temperature> Sufficient room for group exercises and break out

sessions> Appropriate multi-media equipment (e.g. LCD projector,

screen, flipcharts, whiteboards, etc.)> Suggested seating configuration: U-shape to allow

more student-to-student and trainer-student interaction

Logistics for In-Person Training

– Language> Course registrants should be clearly notified in advance of

written and verbal language requirements> If necessary, translation must be provided. Translator should

be fluent in both languages, have some technical knowledge about the course content, and should review the course content prior to the start of the course.

> Simultaneous or sequential translation may be used. > If sequential translation is used, instruct the trainer to adjust

the duration of specific modules to make sure that all key learning objectives are met. For example, some activities or exercises may be optional, or the duration of the day extended, within reason.

> Pre-Course Materials

– Pre-course materials to be distributed (preferably electronically) to all students at least 14 days in advance, or upon registration

> course objectives> course agenda> details on how the student will be evaluated – e.g. exam and grading

policy, credit for student participation, etc.> copy of the relevant code or standard> any relevant background or guidance documents> pre-course questionnaire on learning styles and individual

motivations for taking the course, and expectations from the course
