Cloud Computing: Takeaways

• Increases the reach of your organization

• Improves accessibility for remote users and 24 houraccess to vital information

• Lack of need of software installation reduces IT costs

• Easily scalable with the needs of your organization asmost paid tools have subscription model

• Centralized data (as it is all online) makes gathering and

analysis of aggregated information (class room and schoollevel) a synch

• IT Managers still skittish of entrusting confidentialinformation and corporate secrets to the cloud

The benefits outweigh the risks right now

Used to Raise Achievement in Math

Project K-Nect piloted a program during2007-2008 in North Carolina to help raise the

math achievement in algebra for at-risk 9th

graders.

The students were given smartphones withInternet access that enabled them to use

Internet resources in and outside of theschool to help learn to solve math problems

and to collaborate with peers.

Some of the findings touted the benefits tolearning and developing social skills made

possible because of the smartphones and tobridge the digital divide.

Cell phones complement the short-burst, casual, multitasking style of today's "Digital Native" learners.

6: Inbound Marketing

Trend 6: Inbound Marketing

Inbound marketing is a marketing strategy that focuseson getting found by customers using blogs, searchengines and social media.

In traditional marketing (outbound marketing) companiesfocus on finding customers by using techniques that arepoorly targeted and that interrupt people. Examples arecold-calling, print advertising, T.V. advertising, junk mail, spam and trade shows.

The process of interrupting people and driving one’smessage into a crowd over and over like a sledgehammer via traditional marketing is expensive and notvery effective and is slowly being replaced by inboundmarketing that focuses on creating useful content thatcustomers are looking for and helps generate demand.
