It’s a big city. Auckland is one of New

Zealand's largest metropoliatan areas. There are 14 extinct

volcanoes around Auckland with very good views. Its population is

900,000.

Queenstown is probably the premier holiday resort in the

South Island, Queenstown is a

favourite with both locals and

international visitors. It is located on the

shore of Lake Wakatipu, and surrounded by

mountains which are popular for skiing. The population is

around 5000.

The Picton settlment was laid out on the site of Qaitohi pa in 1948.
