CLINIC NEWS: Wow, this year went by fast! It is time to pick up your child’s medication from the clinic. I will be destroying all medications that are not picked up by the end of the school day on May 30th. Please remember an adult must pick up the medication, as we cannot send them home with a student.

We are still accepting donations of clothing and coats. What our students don’t use will be donated to the community. If your student has borrowed a school shirt from the clinic (it would have clinic written inside) please return it so it will be here when another student needs it.

Wishing you all a safe and happy summer!

Pride Clinic

Pet Alliance needs our help!

We need your used towels, sheets and blankets!

Both our Sanford and Orlando shelters are in need of CLEAN towels and blankets to use

around our shelter.

If you have any old ones laying around, please consider donating them to us so we can use

them for the doggies and kitties instead of throwing them away.

Mrs. Colón (Pre-K Teacher) will be collecting them at our school or you could drop them

off at one of their locations:

Orlando

2727 Conroy Road

Orlando, FL 32839

Sanford

2800 County Home Road

Sanford, FL. 32773

THANK YOU to everyone that donates!

Art Room Adventures Artists have been working hard preparing artwork to display at our Night of the Arts

on May 17th!

Every Pride student who attends art class regularly will have a piece in the show. Artwork

will be displayed throughout the school; including grade level hallways, the atrium, and the

art room.

After marvelous musical performances with Mrs. Deputy, please take a “gallery walk”

around the school to view our artists’ amazing work. They have worked hard all year long,

and I am so proud of them!

Make sure to stop by the art room to partake in our collaborative “Sumi Ink Club” and view

3D work- most students had the opportunity to work with real kiln-fired clay this semester.

3D art works can be taken home with your child from the Night of the Arts.

If you are unable to attend, they will be sent home with your child in the following weeks.

All 2D artworks on display will be sent home over the last weeks of school.

This school year flew by- I cannot believe it’s already coming to a close! I am so proud to

be at Pride and look forward to meeting families at the Night of the Arts. Hope to see you

there!

RONALD MCDONALD POP TAB CONTEST

Thank you for your participation in the “Pull for the Ronald McDonald House” Pop Tabs School Contest! Pride collected a total of 227 pounds for the 2017-2018 school year! The pop tabs YOU collected were recycled and funds raised were donated to Ronald McDonald House charities of Central Florida. The funds help provide lodging, comfort and care to families with seriously ill or injured children. Since 2002, the Pop Tabs program has raised over $263,000 to benefit the children and families staying at the three Ronald McDonald House locations in Orlando. This year 143 schools weighed in a total of 10,236 pounds to benefit the children and families Ronald McDonald House serves!

We encourage you to collect pop tabs throughout the year. We can all do a little to make a big difference in our community! Thanks for helping Pride “Pull for the Ronald McDonald House”.

Music Notes

In music class, we are concluding our studies in expression. We are learning

many ways to express our feelings through music. We’ve experimented with

changing certain elements of a song, such as dynamics or tempo, to see how we

can change a song to show different emotions. This year we have learned that

there is so much more to creating music than just making up words and a melody.

4th and 5th grades are working on some great end of the year projects! 4th

grade is working on writing their own rap, along with mixing up their own track to

accompany their lyrics. Our 5th grade students are working in groups to write

their own commercial for a fictional product, along with background music and a

jingle. Other 5th grade students are learning to play the ukulele. I can’t wait to see

how everyone’s projects turn out at the end of the month!

Finally, we are looking forward to Night of the Arts on May 17th. Each grade

level is preparing something special to perform for our families that evening. Be

sure to check it out!
