Course DescriptionThis seminar has been designed to provide the healthcare practitioner with up to date clinical information of management of injured burn patients in the pediatric population. Faculty of an ACS verified Pediatric Level I Trauma Center will address relevant issues and provide valuable information and insight on current issues across the continuum of trauma care.

Target AudienceThis course is designed for all levels of providers including first responders, EMS, emergency room physicians, ICU physicians, nurses and other professionals involved in treating injured children.

Objectives Upon completion of this course, the participant should: • Discuss fluid intervention and temperature control measures in burn patients

• Identify and assess the needs for burn patients

• Recognize signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning in a pediatric burn patient

• Describe signs and symptoms of Burn-out in healthcare providers

• Discuss how and when to use the Cyanokit for burn patients

• Verbalize how to manage burn injuries

• Describe challenges and role of EMS during house fire/disaster events

• Discuss modern burn care of today

• Describe the capabilities of the Shelby County EMS system in Fire events.

TuitionThe registration fee is $150.00 for physicians; $100.00 for Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Nurses, and all other healthcare professionals. A scholarship has been awarded to cover 75 registration fees for EMS providers. All EMS providers who are interested in attending must pre- register online. The fee includes breakfast, lunch and breaks. After the scholarships have been met, EMS providers who would like to attend the conference will have to pay a $40 registration fee. Full refund will be given for cancellation notices in writing before August 24. Cancellations after that date will be assessed a fee. No refunds will be given after September 1. Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare reserves the right to alter, reschedule, or cancel this program.
