Pinnacle's technologies are critical in long-term and permanent installations for reservoir monitoring, providing a continuous picture of how fluids are moving through the earth.Tiltmeters are uniquely able to provide extremely high spatial and temporal resolution of earth movement due to fluid injection or withdrawal. They are ideally suited to providing early warning of subsidence or compaction related casing failures in oil and gas fields and for providing feedback for balancing water or steam injection with production rates. Microseismic sensors monitor micro-earthquakes induced in a reservoir caused by field flooding and production and are used to monitor fluid flow, to pinpoint layers which are compacting or dilating and to detect mechanical problems as they occur in a completion. Pinnacle's clients can log on to a secure area of our website to see how their reservoir changed yesterday, or last week, or last month and are able to see the impact of field operations or get early warning of impending mechanical problems before they occur.

Just as tiltmeters can be used to locate a growing hydraulic fracture underground, they can be used to “locate” events in the geotechnical field. Tiltmeters are deployed on volcanoes to map the rate of expansion as magma comes towards the surface. The tiltmeters can even be used to estimate the depth of the magma. Tiltmeters are used to provide automated warning of landslides and can detect instability in many slopes subject to slides. Other uses include monitoring bridge deflection under load, avalanche detection, monitoring of dam movements under seasonal loads and compaction monitoring of fill areas.
