KARENTNew prospects for your employees The KARENT® Consulting Spectrum
Globalisation and increasing competitive
pressure force modern companies to rethink
their structures and adjust to new challenges.
Job losses are often unavoidable. KARENT®
has specialised in helping employees affected
by redundancy to overcome the personal crisis
and quickly find a new and suitable position.
Our consulting and placement service is tailored
specifically to the unique situation of each client.
Our individual outplacement programme
primarily supports employees in senior and
middle management. The focus here is on the
search for a new position that matches our
client’s profile and his/her personal objectives.
If you wish, we are also willing to expressly
guarantee the success of our consulting
service. Our market knowledge, contact network
and active research in the hidden employment
market ensure that our clients have a decisive
advantage.
Our group outplacement programme advises
tariff employees in a combination of workshops
and individual counselling. Employees learn to
move actively in the job market and receive
practical assistance with applications. Parallel
to the client’s own search, our Job Search Team
approaches potential employers directly and actively
seeks open positions, thereby significantly
increasing the rate of success for our clients.
The KARENT® Transfer Company employs
people for a fixed term of up to 12 months
following reorganisation. Employees receive
social benefits for an additional year, funded for
example by transfer short-time compensation,
and the opportunity to significantly increase
their employment chances in the labour market
with relevant training. Our primary goal here is
the prompt placement of employees in new jobs.

Finding a new position
At KARENT® our primary goal is to help our
clients to achieve a new and suitable position
as quickly as possible. A new job is always
preceded by the decision of a personnel
manager and/or line manager in favour of
one of our clients. This makes a profound
understanding of the recruitment process an
elementary prerequisite to successful consulting.
We therefore conduct regular quantitative
research projects at KARENT® in order to
analyse the relevant aspects of the HR and
recruitment processes in the different business
sectors. This knowledge enables us to optimally
position our clients in the job market and help
them to create the best individual strategy to
obtain a new job.
As shown by our representative HR decision-
maker chart below, alongside company-internal
placement, the most important methods used
to fill vacancies are still job advertisements and
executive search companies.
Job advertisements and the use of headhunters
are very costly recruitment methods for new
staff from the perspective of the companies.
These methods are generally selected only
if the more cost effective methods, such as
internal placement, personal contacts of the
employees and unsolicited applications have been
unsuccessful.
One vital factor in our consulting success is
therefore to ensure that our clients are
considered for those vacancies before an
advertisement appears in the open job market. This
prevents competition with numerous, often
similarly qualified candidates and significantly
increases the success of our clients.

KARENTThe KARENT® Consulting Concept
The objective of the consulting concept
developed by KARENT® is to significantly reduce
the time that a client needs to restart his/her
career with a new employer. We achieve this
by pursuing a clearly structured, marketing
orientated approach. Each consultation starts
with agreement on a precise timeline with the
client. This provides the client, who has ideally
already been released by his current employer,
with a clear project structure, which generally
also amounts to full-time occupation in the
pursuit of career reorientation.
The main part of the consultation is divided
into three phases.
1. Orientation phase
If the client only learns of the company’s
intention to release him/her during the
actual termination meeting, he/she will
generally need 1 - 2 weeks to come to terms
with the new situation. The opportunities
and possibilities offered by consulting will
ideally be outlined in a so-called takeout session
directly after the termination meeting or during a
meeting at one of the KARENT® offices.
2. Consulting phase
Employees should be released from duty and
start the outplacement consulting process as
soon as possible after termination. During a
6-week period, the consultant and client work
particularly intensively together and prepare
the client’s career strategy and positioning. This
is followed by the main part of the consulting
process, which is to apply that strategy in the job
market. In consideration of the target position,
all suitable channels are systematically utilised
to penetrate the job market. On request, our
Job Search Team will actively seek vacancies in
the hidden job market.
3. Final phase
The consultant and client meet less frequently
in the final phase. Feedback from interviews
is discussed and used to plan the next steps.
Job offers are evaluated to support the decision
process. Where appropriate, coaching can be
given during the trial period.

KARENTKARENT® Individual Outplacement
KARENT® offers the appropriate outplacement
programme for each target group. All programmes
are based on the KARENT® Consulting Concept
and the consulting focus is tailored to meet
different target group needs.
Senior Executive Programme
The KARENT® Senior Executive Programme
exclusively addresses senior managers. High
acceptance of the consultant by the client is
decisive to the success of consulting in this target
group. This individual outplacement programme
is therefore conducted by consultants with a
professional background similar to that of their
demanding clients. Prior to joining KARENT®,
these consultants were division managers,
directors or CEOs of renowned companies.
Executive Programme
The KARENT® Executive Programme addresses
middle management and highly qualified
specialists. Individual outplacement can be
tailored specifically to suit the unique situation
of the client. All of the consultants have an
academic background or pertinent longstanding
professional experience.
Professional Programme
The KARENT® Professional Programme supports
qualified specialists. Consulting is strongly
focused on execution. Once the application
paperwork has been prepared, the consultation
quickly turns to concrete application activities.
Where appropriate, the consultant will also
draft individual application letters and help with
preparations for telephone and personal interviews.
All programmes offer the client professional
support

• Internet access to company information
databases, executive search directories

Support through active job search
All outplacement programmes include active job
search. Our team looks for suitable vacancies in
the open and hidden job markets. The process
is tailored to the relevant hierarchical level.
Different contact networks are activated,
headhunters used or target employers approached
directly, depending on the target position. We
are often aware of vacancies based on our
project work with clients with a similar profile
or direct enquiries from HR departments. We
work systematically and consistently utilise all
available opportunities.
KARENTGroup Outplacement and Transfer Company
Works councils, HR and company managers
carry a huge responsibility in cases where job
losses are unavoidable.
Our experience shows that redundancy
discussions usually focus on two topics. Firstly,
the employees facing unemployment need
financial security for the transition period. Far
more important in the mid-term, however, is the
prospect of a new job in the primary
employment market.
The financial support mechanisms of the
active labour market policies in Germany strive
to prevent unemployment and facilitate a
seamless transition of employees into a new job.
Outplacement consulting supported under
§216a SGB aims to open new opportunities in
the primary job market for the employee to be
terminated, while he/she is still employed. Up to
50% of the costs here are funded by the Federal
Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit).
Transfer companies supported under
§216b SGB enable those affected to use
fixed-term employment by the transfer company
to actively seek new employment and engage
in preparatory training. This can cover a period
of up to 12 months.
The two methods can also be coordinated and
combined in the form of a transfer agency.
Each company situation is unique and calls for
individual answers and solutions.
KARENT® offers all three versions to support
redundancy situations, utilising all options to
rapidly find new jobs for your employees and
colleagues. We take full advantage of all available
financial support (including ESF funding). We
provide the full scope, from group outplacement
to transfer company and transfer agency.
