Choosing a school Every school will offer you an opportunity

to visit and ask questions. This might be a small group, an organised tour date, or at a bigger event such as an open day or information night.

Links to the enrolment sites of all the local (and some not so local) state secondary schools can be found on the transition page of our website.

Exciting and sometimes Anxious Times!

How can I reduce my own and/or my child's anxiety about starting Secondary College?

Familiarise yourself and your child with what to expect on Orientation and First Day.

Talk about how they will get to and from school, where to meet you etc.

Dry runs on packing bags, uniform, transport etc

Page 15: 5/6 Transition Information Night March 5 th 2014

Who do I talk to if I or my child has a problem?

If you child rings you from school encourage them to speak to their homeroom teacher or to go to the general office for assistance.

First point of call at NHS is homeroom teacher either via email or phone. This differs from school to school.

Other people to help at NHS – YLPL, Head of Sub-School, Student Wellbeing, Principals and General Office.
