Sacraments

Baptism - Please see priest after Mass or contact our parish

First Communion - After completing a two year program for

first and second grade.

Confirmation - After completing a two year program for

grade nine and ten.

Marriage - Arrange at least eight months prior to the wed-

ding date. There are several requirements to be completed in

advance of the wedding date. Please see priest after Mass or

contact our parish office before any arrangements are made.

Outreach Ministry - Please notify the parish office of any pa-

rishioner who is unable to attend Mass due to illness or age.

One of the most important things we can do as a Faith community is to support one another in prayer. We do this first and foremost by our active participation in the Sunday Mass. To be Catholic is to be a member of a community of believers. This community gathers weekly to be nourished and challenged by the Word of God proclaimed and the Body and Blood of Christ shared. We need this weekly strength in order to live our Faith out in the world, beyond the doors of the church.

Another way we prayerfully support one another is to remember the needs and intentions of one another in our private conversations with God throughout our day. To this end, I am proposing we start a “Prayer Chain” ministry in our Somerset/Swansea Catholic Community. I know that some of our parishes have some form of this ministry already. I certainly want to continue this good work and offer a few “tweaks” as we move forward to-gether.

This ministry of prayer can take many forms. To begin (and we will build off of these in the future), I invite you to offer the names of family members, friends, neighbors or co-workers who are in need of our prayer. In each of our churches you will find a binder, duly marked, where you may inscribe names and/or intentions. These people and intentions will be remembered in our daily Mass, celebrated Monday through Thursday at 8:00 a.m. at St. Louis de France Church. Our daily Mass crowd – a very healthy and vibrant 80+ people – is a powerhouse of prayer! I also encourage you to browse through these pages either before or after weekend Mass, so that you may include these intentions in your private prayer at Mass.

In addition, I invite you to contact the parish office if you wish to have names of those who need our prayer, added to our prayer list in the bulletin. This list will be for all three parishes and will be included in all three bul-letins. I would ask that we not include names of the de-ceased in this list. There are other ways we remember our beloved dead. This bulletin listing is for the living, espe-cially those who are sick, hospitalized, facing surgery or undergoing other difficulties or challenges. In general, after a month or so, names on the list will be placed in a more general intention, unless we are otherwise notified.
