INTERNSHIP REPORT COMPANY BACKGROUND Shanghai Volkswagen Co. Ltd. was formed in 1984, as a joint venture between Volkswagen and SAIC. This was a 25-year contract to make passenger cars in Shanghai with a limit of 50 per cent foreign ownership. Shanghai Volkswagen's Shanghai plant was by the far the winner among all new JVs, as it produced cars that could function as taxis, vehicles for government officials and transport for the newly emerging business elite under the Volkswagen and Škoda marques. It reached 1,527,008 units (1,305,450 from VW brand such as Lamando, Cross Polo, New Polo, and Passat etc and 221,558 from Skoda brand such as Octavia, Rapid, Fabia etc). INTERNSHIP OBJECTIVE Study and practice manufacturing, CAD, communication skills in daily operation on site during internship period. Improve self-problem solving and data analysis skills to identify root causes of carsdefects. Develop a strong sense of responsibility and initiative to deal with technical issues in production. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES Continuously communicated with Quality Engineering, Vendor, Purchasing Engineering and Workers at the assembly site to monitor and improved related quality and processing areas as well as provided problem solving assistance for improvements in process-ability, quality, performance, productivity and cost. Assisted to analyze statistical data and CAD measurement to identify root causes of defects with Purchasing Engineering and Body Construction Engineering to implement appropriate countermeasures at associated facility, such as vendor, body construction, and final assembly.

Continuously made suggestions, communicates with all facilities and met with

Germany Engineers to improve processes in regards to quality and productivity at

the assembly site.

Assisted instrument technicians to take care of daily equipment’s operation, such

as maintain, update, analyze maintenance records and troubleshooting production

line on site.

Studied and analyzed troubleshooting cases to remove the root cause and avoid

reappearance.

SUMMARY

In the beginning of 2015, I officially started my internship as a manufacturing

engineering role in such a great company, Shanghai Volkswagen Co. Ltd. During the one

to two month, I shadowed several professional engineering, belong to manufacturing and

maintenance department, to study areas including auto final assembly, manufacturing

process, quality and productivity improvement, production line supervision, data analysis,

CAD design, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting as well as communication and

association between varies departments and vendors, etc. According to this valuable

experience, I improved problem solving, team work and project execution skills, which

achieved a high performance evaluation from team leaders and project managers. Due to

the security treaty between Shanghai Volkswagen and me, these relative work and

achievement cannot be presented in this report; however, I would sincerely appreciate

this opportunity to develop a strong sense of self responsibility, technology innovation,

time management, and team leadership. Finally, great thanks to the colleagues, leaders

as well as relative partners of Shanghai Volkswagen.
