2D Compact Fluorescent Lamps

Biax™ 2D, a great GE product, was first introduced in 1981 to satisfy thetechnical needs of architects, interior designers and other style-consciousspecifiers.

Advanced amalgam technology: The higher wattage versions of Biax™ 2Dincorporate the latest amalgam technology. Introducing a tiny amalgampellet into the lamp rather than liquid mercury means that lamp output ismore consistent in any burning position, at either high or low ambienttemperatures.

Energy Saving: Biax™ 2D brings all the energy-efficiency and long life benefits of compact fluorescent in a design conscious and highly versatile format. With 10,000 hours average life and up to 80% energy saving overincandescent lamps, 2D really is the ideal lamp.

Widest choice of wattages: The Biax™ 2D also offers a wide range of wattages, from 10 to 55W, for most applications. Both 2 and 4 pin versionscan be used with standard or electronic ballasts.

Strong optical performance: Whether installed in circular or square formatfittings, Biax™ 2D’s continuous light form gives unequalled optical performance, with all round illuminance.

Outstanding versatility and flattest format: The superbly engineeredshape of Biax™ 2D is unique amongst compact fluorescent sources, enabling the design and production of fittings with much flatter, less intrusiveprofiles. Biax™ 2D is suitable for a wide range of fittings, including uplightersand wall or ceiling-mounted fittings, whether used in exterior or interiorapplications and the same lamps can be adapted for functional emergencylighting or more decorative installations.

Wide range of luminaires: Luminaires with 2D lamps are normally suppliedwith starter circuits (lamps with built-in starter has 2-pin caps, without starter 4-pin caps), which ensure correct operation at temperatures of downto -10°C. If quick starting is desired, replace the FSU starter in luminairesusing 4 pin lamps with an electronic starter, thereby permitting starting attemperatures of down to -15°C.
